It stands to reason that the person behind an iconic period TV show would also appreciate life in an iconic period home in Hollywood.

Alas, “Mad Men” creator Matthew Weiner now wants a buyer for his beautiful Blair Estate. The legendary home is available for $15,495,000.

Built in 1924 by George H. Fruehling for the developer John H. Blair, the home was designed to highlight the best of Spanish Mediterranean architecture.

Blair developed many of the Spanish-style housing communities in the Los Angeles area, and this mansion was his showpiece.

The seven-bedroom, 11,137-square-foot home was featured in numerous publications over the past century, including Architectural Digest in 1926.

Weiner and his then-wife, historic architectural specialist and designer Linda Brettler, bought the house in 2010 for $4,795,000. Then Brettler embarked on a meticulous restoration.

Brettler sourced light fixtures, stained glass, and other items from grand villas and estates around the world, including Italy, France, and England.

The tiles in all the bathrooms were custom-designed and crafted by specialists in the style of the 1920s. The moldings in the breakfast room were styled after those found nearby in the Griffith Observatory.

“The level of detail of the restoration is exceedingly thoughtful,” says listing agent Daria Greenbaum, of Compass.

The “new custom features evoke the golden age of Hollywood,” she says. Another highlight is “the state-of-the-art screening room,” which takes its inspiration from the legendary Egyptian and Chinese theaters and even includes salvaged light fixtures from the 1920s.

Hidden from the street by dense, mature foliage and a privacy wall, the home is located in the Hollywood Hills just above Hollywood Boulevard.

It sits alongside new homes in the $30 million price range “in the newly coined ‘Billionaires Row’ neighborhood,” Greenbaum says.

The 1-acre lot features a manicured lawn, pool, grotto, outdoor kitchen, and koi pond. Terraces on the home overlook the lush outdoor spaces.

The property includes a three-level guesthouse, which currently serves as a large office and gym.

But the real showstopper is the main house with its grand period details everywhere you look.

“It’s the quintessential old Hollywood estate, with incredibly preserved 1920s Spanish architecture, a museum-quality restoration, and amenities that have been updated for contemporary living,” says Greenbaum. “To me, it is the definition of timeless style.”
