More than a dozen offers rolled in quickly for this cozy cottage in Hampton, CT.

Listed a month ago for $219,000, the adorable abode is now in contingent status.

“It is a 1930s-era cottage built in a Swiss style,” says listing agent Rick Nassiff, with Keller Williams Legacy Partners. “Some of the physical attributes and the treatments on the inside, like the beautiful exposed wood paneling, come from that era.”

Indeed, wood covers almost every surface of the 1,332-square-foot space.

“In the past, users have had a wood stove in there, and there’s still a just a subtle hint of a wood-burning stove aroma— but not very strong,” Nassiff says.

‘One of the most unique houses’

The current owners have had the place for about 20 years and used it as a long-term rental property. Nassiff says it’s one of the most unique homes he’s ever represented.

“It has been nicely taken care of by the current owners, who’ve never lived there but live adjacent to the property,” he explains. “They bought it because they love the cottage.”

The compact setup includes two bedrooms, one bathroom, and a surprisingly roomy living area.

“It’s a large living room for a relatively small house,” Nassiff says. “Everything is dark wood. It feels very cozy. I love the color and the architecture on the outside. It’s so unique and has so much character.”

He says the roughly 90-year-old domicile has a newer boiler and roof, plus a newly painted deck.

“It’s an old house, so it’s always going to need some work, but the outside is in very, very good condition, with only minor areas that might need just a bit of attention,” Nassiff notes.

The property sits on 1.8 acres, off of a highway that runs between Hartford, CT, and Providence, RI.

“It’s very secluded feeling, but it’s on a busy road,” Nassiff says, adding that the home’s thermal-pane windows keep things quiet inside.

Offers on the place started to pour in after only a few days.

“It went on the market, I believe, on a Thursday, and we had 13 offers by the end of the day on Sunday,” Nassiff says, explaining that the perfect buyer “is somebody who appreciates [the home’s] uniqueness, somebody very artistic who could appreciate the level of art and architecture on the house.”
