"Days of Our Lives" and "Starship Troopers" actor Patrick Muldoon has died at the age of 57 after reportedly suffering a heart attack at his Beverly Hills home on the morning of April 19.

Muldoon, who was best known for his role as Austin Reed on the hit soap, was reportedly found unconscious in the bathroom at the California property by his longtime partner, Miriam Rothbart, after he went to take a shower.

The actor's sister, Shana Muldoon-Zappa, told TMZ that paramedics were immediately called to the California property, but there "was nothing anyone could do."

Variety, which was the first publication to report the news, states that Muldoon is survived by Rothbart; his parents, Deanna and Patrick Muldoon Sr.; his sister and brother-in-law, Shana and Ahmet Zappa; his niece, Halo; and his nephew, Arrow Zappa.

His manager confirmed the news of Muldoon's passing to the outlet, but did not share a statement.

Just two days before his death, the actor had shared his excitement about his latest project, crime thriller "Kockroach," which stars Chris Hemsworth, Alec Baldwin, Zazie Beetz, and Taron Egerton.

"So excited to be a part of this amazing project KOCKROACH directed by Matt Ross starring Chris Hemsworth, Taron Edgerton, Zazzie Beetz and Alec Baldwin. Filming now in Australia," he wrote in the final Instagram post shared to his account before his death.

It's understood that Muldoon was working on the movie as an executive producer.

According to the actor's IMDB page, he had several projects in the works at the time of his death, including a new movie, "Dirty Hands," in which he starred alongside Denise Richards and which is due to be released on April 24.

His role in the movie saw him reuniting with Richards, whom he also appeared with in the 1997 cult hit "Starship Troopers" and later went on to have a brief romantic relationship with.

The two are understood to have maintained a long friendship in the wake of that project, with the actress regularly commenting on Muldoon's Instagram posts—including a December image of the actor posing with Rothbart in Aspen, CO.

Muldoon also attended Richards' wedding to Aaron Phypers in 2018, appearing on an episode of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," which filmed the entire ceremony.

His former "Days of Our Lives" co-star and ex-partner, Lisa Rinna, was also in attendance—and he later revealed his suspicions that a reunion between the three of them had been orchestrated for the cameras.

"I ran into [Lisa] at Denise’s wedding," he recalled to Soap Hub in a 2021 interview. "That was on the ['Real Housewives of Beverly Hills']. Denise had just come onto the show so they filmed her wedding to Aaron.

"I don’t really know the whole reality world, what’s orchestrated, what’s not. So, I’m at the wedding, and halfway through, Lisa says to me, ‘Patrick, come down here.’ Denise and I were girlfriend and boyfriend for a while. We had dated, and Lisa and I [also] had ... a moment back in the ’90s.

"And, so they both nailed me on the show about dating them at the same time. I didn’t remember that. But they put that on the show. It was all in good fun. All in good fun."

Muldoon and Richards last appeared in public together in March, when they attended the 2026 Saturn Awards.

The actor, who was born and raised in San Pedro, CA, began his acting career when he was still a student at the University of Southern California, when he appeared on two episodes of "Who's the Boss?"

He went on to play the role of Reed in "Days of Our Lives" from 1992 until 1995, and reprised the role in 2011 and 2012.

The actor also appeared in another iconic soap opera, "Melrose Place," from 1995 until 1996, playing the role of the villain Richard Hart.

Muldoon also had a successful career as a producer, working behind the scenes on a huge slate of projects, including "The Dreadful," starring "Game of Thrones" actress Sophie Hunter.

According to Deadline, Muldoon also had a passion for music, with friends of the actor telling the outlet that he "embraced each day with a full-tilt, rock ’n’ roll spirit."

Around two weeks before his passing, the actor shared a video of himself and his family members gathered around the table at his sister's home, where they were partaking in an Easter "table jam," singing along to the hit Oasis song "Don't Look Back in Anger."

Muldoon can be seen playing his guitar while his family members play percussion on the table and sing along.

In a previous interview with Soaps.com, Muldoon opened up about his love of music, telling the outlet that he had been pursuing a career in the industry since his early 20s and noting that he was regularly traveling to Nashville, TN, to record new music.

"It probably seems like actor guy wants to do music, but I have been on the music road since my early 20s," he said. "I went down [to Nashville] and met with a bunch of the music publishers. In America, Nashville is really the music community. All of the major songwriters write out of there. When I was there, it is crazy how fun it is.

"Whether it is the business side or the creative side, everybody loves music there. I was going to parties with music publishers and playing for people live in living rooms."
