Arizona Election Results: Swing State Where the Median Home Price Is $504,366 votes Red

Arizona’s election results are in, with the swing state voting for Donald Trump for president, according to projections from the Associated Press decision team.

The AP issued its call for Arizona on Sunday, making it the seventh and final swing state to report. Trump swept all seven of the battleground states, and had earlier surpassed the majority threshold needed to return to the White House as the 47th president.

Arizona’s 11 Electoral College votes will go toward the Republican candidate in a closely contested race where housing policies were among the key issues debated by the campaigns.

In October, Vice President Kamala Harris held a campaign event in Chandler, AZ, where she touted her plan to give first-time homebuyers a $25,000 down payment subsidy.

“Under my economic plan, we will bring down the cost of housing. Arizona, you know that’s an issue we need to deal with,” she said.

Donald Trump also hammered Harris on the housing crisis while campaigning in Arizona, saying at a September rally in Tucson that “the Harris migrant invasion” is responsible for “driving housing costs through the roof.”

Key stats on Arizona’s housing market

The homeownership rate in Arizona is 68% as of last year, higher than the national average of 66%, according to U.S. Census Bureau data.

In the first nine months of 2024, the median listing price for homes in Arizona averaged $504,366, a 46% increase from the same period in 2019, according to Realtor.com® listing data. That compares with a national median listing price of $428,860 for 2024 through September, up 38% from five years ago.

On a square-foot basis, Arizona homes were typically listed for $271 in 2024, up 58% from 2019. Nationally, the median list price per square foot rose 52% in the same period, to $228.

The average Arizona homeowner gained $24,000 in equity in the 12 months through June 2024, just below the national average of $25,000, according to CoreLogic.

Among renters in Arizona, 49% are considered rent-burdened, paying more than 30% of their income on rent. That compares with 50% of renters nationally who are considered rent-burdened.
