This fall in Ballwin, MO, residents can expect a season that begins warmer than usual before cooling closer to normal by October.

The Old Farmer’s Almanac has released its Fall 2025 Weather Predictions, and Missouri is forecasted for a warm, relatively dry season.

Ballwin just recently earned the recognition as the #4-ranked market on the Realtor.com®  list of 2025 Hottest ZIP Codes, meaning there may be many new homeowners in the area who will need to prepare for the autumn conditions for the first time.

Warm days to start, cooler by October

The Almanac predicts that the Heartland region, which includes Missouri, will begin fall warmer than usual in September, then trend closer to normal in October. September temperatures are expected to average 69°F, one degree above normal, with rainfall about two inches below normal. October should average 57°F, right on par with historical trends, and about three inches of rain.

Statewide, Missouri’s outlook is for a warm fall with near-normal precipitation. That means residents can expect sunny stretches with occasional light storms before cooler weather sets in later in the season.

Across the country, much of the western U.S. is expected to see warmer-than-average conditions, while regions like the Upper Midwest and Appalachians trend cooler. Rainfall will likely be below normal from California to Florida, with the Pacific Northwest and High Plains standing out as exceptions.

Ballwin ranks as the nation’s #4 hottest ZIP code

The Realtor.com Hottest ZIP Codes 2025 report placed Ballwin’s 63021 at #4 nationwide, highlighting the suburb’s fast-moving market and strong buyer interest. Listings here drew 3.8× more views per property than the U.S. average and sold in just 22 days.

In June 2025, Ballwin’s median listing price was $350,000, well below the national median of $441,000. However, it was 25.7% higher than the St. Louis metro median of $300,000, reflecting strong local demand and the community’s desirability.

Other Midwest ZIPs also made the list, including Strongsville, OH (44149) at #6 and Bexley, OH (43209) at #10. Together, they show how affordability and suburban convenience are driving buyer activity in the region.

September home maintenance priorities for Ballwin

Homeowners in Ballwin should use September’s warm start to get ahead on seasonal maintenance before cooler weather arrives:

  • Check walkways for cracks. “Fix walkway and entryway areas before slippery weather can cause a tripping or falling accident,” advises Ryan Williams, general manager of 128 Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electric.
  • Clean siding. After summer humidity, Chris Granger of Sears Home Services notes that siding can show mildew or dirt. A good pressure wash can refresh curb appeal and uncover hidden issues.
  • Sweep the chimney. Even if warmer days linger, cooler nights will arrive. “Built-up soot in your chimney can increase your risk of a chimney fire,” warns Lindsey Pasieka of ConsumerSafety.org.
  • Change HVAC filters. Dirty filters reduce efficiency and can damage systems over time. Granger recommends replacing them monthly to keep bills in check.
