This fall in Bexley, OH homes, residents should prepare for a season that leans cooler and drier than usual.

The Old Farmer’s Almanac has released its Fall 2025 Weather Predictions, and Ohio is forecasted for a crisp, traditional autumn.

At the same time, Bexley earned national recognition as the #10-ranked market on the Realtor.com 2025 Hottest ZIP Codes list, meaning more homeowners than ever are about to get a feel for a true Midwest autumn. The real question is—are they prepared for it?

Ohio braces for a cooler-than-normal season

The Almanac projects that the Ohio Valley will see cooler and drier conditions overall this fall. September will average 68°F, with rainfall about one inch below normal. October will drop to an average of 56°F with another two inches of rain. Homeowners should expect some scattered showers, but overall, the season will bring brisk air and sunny stretches.

Statewide, Ohio is expected to trend cool and dry, setting up classic fall conditions.

Nationally, most of the western half of the U.S. will also be warmer than average, while areas like the Upper Midwest and Appalachians will trend cooler. Rainfall is projected to be below average across much of the country, from California to Florida, with the exception of the Pacific Northwest and High Plains.

Bexley ranks #10 among nation’s hottest ZIP codes

The Realtor.com Hottest ZIP Codes 2025 report named Bexley’s 43209 the 10th hottest housing market in the U.S.. Homes here attracted 3.4× more views than the national average and sold in just 25 days.

In June 2025, Bexley’s median listing price was $470,000, about 7% higher than the national median of $441,000. That price was also 20% above the Columbus metro’s $390,000, showing that local buyers are willing to pay a premium for Bexley’s desirable location and amenities.

Other Midwest ZIPs to make the list include Ballwin, MO (63021) at #4 and Strongsville, OH (44149) at #6. Collectively, these markets demonstrate how Midwestern suburbs are combining affordability with strong buyer demand.

September home maintenance priorities for Bexley

With a cool and dry fall on the horizon, September is the ideal time to prepare homes for the winter months:

  • Check walkways for cracks. “Fix walkway and entryway areas before slippery weather can cause a tripping or falling accident,” advises Ryan Williams, general manager of 128 Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electric.
  • Clean siding. After summer humidity, Chris Granger of Sears Home Services notes that siding can show mildew or dirt. A good pressure wash can refresh curb appeal and uncover hidden issues.
  • Sweep the chimney. Even if warmer days linger, cooler nights will arrive. “Built-up soot in your chimney can increase your risk of a chimney fire,” warns Lindsey Pasieka of ConsumerSafety.org.
  • Change HVAC filters. Dirty filters reduce efficiency and can damage systems over time. Granger recommends replacing them monthly to keep bills in check.
