"Home Alone" star Macaulay Culkin has quietly sold his sprawling California estate for $14.25 million—one year after he opened up about his role as a "homebody dad" with longtime partner Brenda Song.

Culkin, 45, and Song, 37, who have been in a relationship since 2017 and share two children together, purchased the four-bedroom, five-bathroom Toluca Lake dwelling from fellow actor Kiefer Sutherland in 2022 for $8 million.

According to property records obtained by Realtor.com®, the couple made a very impressive profit on the sale of the home, which appears to have been sold in an off-market deal that closed Feb. 13, one day before Valentine's Day.

The modern mansion, which sprawls across 4,879 square feet, was built in 1935 and sits on a 0.58-acre plot.

Because it was not officially listed, there is little information about what—if any—changes to the home were made by Culkin and Song while they lived there, and no new images of the home have been shared publicly.

Culkin, who shot to fame at the tender age of 10 when he took on the role of Kevin McCallister in the popular holiday movie franchise, is best known as one of the world's most recognizable child actors; however, in recent years he has shied away from the spotlight.

Instead of courting major movie roles, the actor has instead focused his attentions on more independent projects while also building a family with Song, who he met in 2014.

In a previous interview with Cosmopolitan, which marked their first as a couple, Culkin and Song revealed how their relationship was born behind the walls of their homes, blossoming behind closed doors away from prying eyes and paparazzi.

For one date, Song cooked Culkin a steak dinner at home—and on another occasion, she actually taught him how to do his laundry. Then, one Christmas, Song invited Culkin to celebrate at her parents’ home.

Culkin confessed that much of his life these days is centered around his role in the home, where he has fully embraced being a full-time father for several years, happily holding down the fort so that Song could focus on pursuing her on-screen career.

”These days, Mack seems totally happy being the homebody dad hanging with his kids, 3-year-old Dakota and 2-year-old Carson,” the Cosmopolitan writer noted.

“He’s proud of the fact that their house is the site of every playdate, that he butts heads with his toddler, that he stalks the halls as ‘Papa T-rex.’"

When the couple spoke to the outlet in January 2025, they noted that they had since learned to achieve more of a balance between their respective work projects and their roles as parents, doing so "without a nanny" and instead relying on Song's parents for help whenever they needed it.

The pair said that they worked hard to ensure that their private lives remain exactly that: private. In fact, Culkin said he was proud of the fact that members of the public still seemed confused about his and Song's relationship—as well as the fact that they share two children.

"That the public is like, 'Wait, they're together and they have kids?' Good. That means we did our job," he noted.

However, the pair explained that they had finally reached a stage where they felt ready to share more of their lives with the public—starting with their Cosmopolitan cover shoot, which Culkin convinced Song to do for the sake of their sons.

"This was literally his quote yesterday: He said, ‘Honey, we have to do this cover. It’s for the mantel, for our boys,'" Song revealed.

The shoot in question captured the couple in their element: living their lives inside their home, showing them in their pajamas and brushing their teeth, lounging on the couch, and making coffee in the kitchen.

In one photo, Culkin could also be seen cleaning out the swimming pool.

The quiet "homebody dad" life is a world away from the one that the "Home Alone" star enjoyed at the height of his fame, when he was living in an apartment in New York (which he purchased at just 19 years old), being followed by paparazzi, while his name was splashed across tabloid front pages.

Culkin made clear that any remaining connection to that former lifestyle has been severed completely when he sold the aforementioned loft apartment for a $6 million profit, having held onto the abode for more than 20 years.

The actor is understood to have sold the three-bedroom, two-bathroom condo—which he purchased for $1.7 million—for $7.75 million in early January in an off-market deal.

However, the actor did previously admit that he'd considered adding another dwelling to his real estate holdings: the iconic property that served as the McCallister residence in “Home Alone.”

The so-called “Home Alone House” hit the market in May 2024 for $5.25 million, with Culkin revealing months later that he had thought about snapping it up “just for giggles.”

“I had half a mind to buy it—just for giggles,” Culkin told the audience at the Rosemont Theater in Illinois during a December 2024 appearance, according to the New York Times.

The actor added that he imagined turning the fictional home into a “movie fun house” where people could sled down the stairs just like Kevin does in the movie.

Sadly, that scenario didn’t come to pass.

“I got kids. I’m busy, man,” he explained of his reasons for deciding against the property purchase.

Instead, the home was snapped up by an unnamed buyer, who closed on the home for $5.5 million on Jan. 15, 2025, according to records.
