Ever dreamed of being the mayor of your own town? A 22-acre property in Mount Vernon, KY, is up for grabs—complete with 10 rustic cabins, a trapper’s cabin, general store, blacksmith shop, an 1800s church, a post office, and even a schoolhouse.

Set in the scenic Renfro Valley Mountains, this one-of-a-kind homestead, listed for $350,000, comes with Hollywood credentials, too: It starred as the eerie, abandoned town in the horror film "The Devil Below," with actor Will Patton.

"The gentleman who originally owned the property went around Kentucky and found these cabins with the goal of restoration and preservation," says listing agent Victoria Caldwell, of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Foster, REALTORS.

"Unfortunately, he never got to bring his dream to fruition, but the current owners did a lot of work, finding antiques to finish out the vibe."

Some unusual finds that dot the property include a general store with a commercial kitchen and bathrooms, and a trapper's cabin that was built in the 1700s.

"The sellers ran a store out of the general store for a while, but it has been closed for about 10 years now," Caldwell notes.

Another structure known as The Pennington features one bedroom, a kitchen, living room, and fireplace.

"I love the old buildings," she says. "Some of them have these big beautiful, original stone fireplaces."

"The 22 acres are mostly wooded with hills, so it would take a lot of excavation work if you wanted to develop on the land," Caldwell notes. "There is a home that is livable, but it just doesn't have a lot of modern amenities."

As for the next use, she believes they are endless.

"There is not traditional zoning, so that leaves the opportunity open," she says. "It has been used as a wedding venue just for family and friends. I would say the easiest transition would be for commercial use as a wedding venue."

Also found on property is an 1800s church that still has stained-glass windows.

"There is a bell in the church from a Confederate War train that is still operational and kids love to ring," Caldwell says. "People have looked at the property wanting to transform it into an Airbnb. So many people looking at it have very different visions. Some have looked to use it as a church camp while others are looking to use it as a wedding venue, homestead, or rental property."

A blacksmith shop, post office, corn crib, salt house, schoolhouse, and cowboy bunkhouse can also be found on property.

"It's close to Lake Linville and about an hour away from Lake Cumberland," Caldwell adds. "It's also about an hour from Lexington and 20 minutes to Berea, which is known for its arts and crafts."
