Futuristic ‘Space Luxe’ House in California Wows Its Way to an Offer at Warp Speed

Set among the oh, so traditional homes in Folsom, CA, is one that is not like the others.

Dubbed Space Luxe, the brand-new, futuristic-looking abode has made contact with the market: The place was listed for $2,395,000 and snagged an offer after just 12 days. It’s currently pending sale.

“I’m waiting for Judy Jetson to pull up in her flying car,” jokes listing agent Kim Pacini-Hauch, with Re/Max Gold. “It doesn’t look futuristic on the inside. It looks like a nice, modern house.”

The 4,000-square-foot house has clean lines; glass walls; and cantilevered, steel-frame construction that creates an illusion of floating.

“I think the architecture speaks for itself,” Pacini-Hauch says. “We don’t have any spaceship-style, futuristic architecture anywhere in the region, that I’ve ever seen. This house sits prominently up on a hill, surrounded by pretty conventional houses. It really stands out in a good way, because it’s unique and people are intrigued by it.”

The four-bedroom, 4.5-bath home was a retirement project for the seller and was completed in about four years.

“I saw this house when it was just a papier-mache concept on the owner’s desk, when he was designing it, and [I] said, ‘Are you really going to build that?’ Pacini-Hauch recalls. “And he said yes. This was not an easy house to engineer and design. The steel-frame construction and the cantilever elements of the house are very special.”

The sleek interiors are mostly black and white, with a few red accents. This otherworldly abode certainly attracted plenty of attention.

“It went viral as soon as I put the first picture on Instagram,” Pacini-Hauch says. “It’s making its way around the world, which is a testament to the demand for something different. It garnered a lot of attention due to the unique, futuristic design, and I think we’ll see more of it from other builders in the region. This was definitely a lot of fun to market and introduce.”

The home’s deck is a distinct highlight, with its seemingly endless views.

“You’re looking at the whole valley of Sacramento and the downtown skyline,” Pacini-Hauch says. “So you’re up high on a hill, which gives expansive valley views. And at night, it’s all lit up.”

Pacini-Hauch says the home was not on the market long enough to garner multiple offers, but there was a lot of interest.

“It’s so cool, especially for a successful millennial who wants something cutting edge and different,” she says. “This house is a trophy.”
