“Today” host Hoda Kotb is arguably one of New York City‘s best-known celebrities—but that hasn’t stopped the mom of two from ending her time as a Manhattan resident.

The 60-year-old TV host and news anchor has officially parted ways with her Upper West Side apartment in favor of moving to a much larger house in the New York suburbs, where she is relishing the opportunity to live a more “normal life.”

While raising kids in Manhattan comes with many perks, it is not considered to be the most “traditional” environment in which to raise children. In place of picket fences, there are piles of trash, while sprawling family homes are replaced with sky-high apartment buildings.

Eager to find some more “normalcy” in her life, Kotb made the decision earlier this year to move with her two daughters, Haley Joy, 7, and Hope Catherine, 5, to start a new life in a stunning suburban home.

Although the seasoned on-air star has not yet revealed where exactly she’s moved to, she did open up to her Today co-host Jenna Bush Hager about the significant impact her new surroundings have had on her life—and the lives of her kids.

“Everything changed like that. I have a whole new town and a whole new school and all the new things,” she said while discussing the back-to-school season. “We went for our first day of school, I carried a coffee, and I [was wearing] sneakers, and I walked my kids to school like normal people. It was awesome.”

On her Instagram account, Kotb proudly posted a photo of herself wearing her beloved school run outfit, posing happily alongside her daughters as they modeled their back-to-school ensembles.

Behind the trio, the “Today” host’s stunning new suburban home could be seen, complete with what appears to be a spacious garage, as well as beautiful bay windows and a paved driveway.

“First day of school in the books,” Kotb, who shares her adopted children with ex-fiancé Joel Schiffman, captioned the post, which also featured a video of her daughters embracing happily at the end of the school day.

The milestone moment comes months after Kotb revealed that she was thinking about moving out of her Manhattan home. In March, she opened up about the many memories that she made in the property, admitting that it was going to be tough to leave it behind.

“Both Haley and Hope came home there and I remember them trying to crawl up the stairs,” she said on an episode of her “Making Space” podcast. “I mean, it’s like you want to hold on to things and you want to let go.”

However, Kotb admits that she had a vision when it came to finding the perfect family home, explaining in an August episode of “Today” that she wanted to create a “warm and cozy” environment where her children could relax and find sanctuary.

“It’s all new,” she said of her move. “New kids, new school, new things, new everything. And it’s funny because all I could think of was I want my house for the kids to feel warm and cozy and a place where they want to hang. And that’s it.”

She added in an interview with People magazine: “I want my kids to feel grass on their feet, and play in the yard, and ride bikes down the street, and run up and down the stairs.”

As for her daughters, Kotb says they couldn’t be happier about their new home—and all of the amenities that it offers: “They’re so excited to have their own space, a reading chair—they’re excited about a reading chair. They’re excited about having a bean bag and their bed.”

The TV host has not quit all of her former properties, however. While she’s moved on from her Manhattan home, Kotb still owns a beach property on Long Island, where she often travels on the weekends and during the holidays.
