Hollywood Film Producers Shoot for Blockbuster Sale of Their $18.5M Malibu Home

Hollywood film producers Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall, who together produced this summer’s action flick “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,” would like to produce a sale of their Malibu, CA, mansion.

They’re asking the blockbuster price of $18.5 million.

The four-bedroom retreat was built in 1955 and has undergone some minor cosmetic updates over the past few years. The couple, who founded The Kennedy/Marshall Company,  purchased the home in 2015 for $9,750,000.

‘Nothing quite like it’

“Everything they did was mostly cosmetic with some interior updates as well as to the landscape,” says listing agent Stan Richman, of Compass. “The interior is very simple and clean. What really sets this home apart is the fact that it sits on a private knoll on 2.2 acres. It is just a rare piece of land with spectacular views of the Malibu coastline. There is nothing quite like it with the land of this size and the views.”

The 3,989-square-foot residence boasts another unique feature: Nearly every room in the house has direct outdoor access.

“The views are the main thing about this house,” Richman notes of the span from Point Dume and the Malibu Pier to Palos Verdes. “The finishes are all high-end. The living room with exposed beams opens up to the pool area.

“It’s on a cul-de-sac, so there is lots of privacy,” he continues. “A lot of the homes here are used as second residences, but a lot of people are working from home, so it could be used as a primary as well.”

The chef’s kitchen features a “center island, full bar, mini bar, and fireplace that opens to the outdoor spaces with an outdoor barbecue, custom fire pit, outdoor shower, and multiple lounging areas,” according to the listing.

The primary bedroom has a fireplace and a private terrace. There is also a walk-in closet with custom cabinetry and an enormous bathroom with a spa shower, soaking tub, skylights, and dual sinks.

The property is equipped with an additional gated entrance for guests or service deliveries. Membership rights are also available to La Costa Beach and Tennis Club.

“It is located in the east end of Malibu, which is easier to go into town from the east point than it is from the west point,” he says. “It’s as tranquil as a place as I have been to, and I have been selling real estate for 40 years.”

Kennedy is president of Lucasfilm and has produced “E.T.,” “Jurassic Park,” and “Star Wars.” Marshall runs their production company, The Kennedy/Marshall Company, and has produced “Back to the Future,” “Indiana Jones,” and “Jason Bourne.”
