Inside ‘It Ends With Us’ Author Colleen Hoover’s Texas Hideaway—as She Deletes Instagram Amid Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni Lawsuit Scandal

“It Ends With Us” author Colleen Hoover has seemingly been dragged into the bitter legal spat between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni—deactivating her Instagram account as the battle between the two co-stars reaches shocking new levels.

While Hoover, 45, has not revealed her reasons for stepping back from social media, her decision to do so just days after Baldoni filed a $400 million lawsuit against Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, has sparked speculation that the two incidents might be connected.

Hoover’s 2016 novel was the inspiration for Lively and Baldoni’s hit movie, which is focused on the abusive relationship between lead characters Lily Bloom and Ryle Kincaid.

Soon after it premiered in August 2024, the movie became mired in controversy amid reports that the two lead actors, Lively and Baldoni (who also served as director), had not gotten along during filming.

In December, Lively filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Baldoni—only for him to then sue her, her spouse, and her publicist, Leslie Sloan, for defamation weeks later in a bombshell $400 million lawsuit.

Throughout that very public dispute, Hoover has remained largely under the radar, opting to stay silent—which has led fans to ask one key question: Where has she been weathering the storm of scandal?

According to property records, Hoover owns a four-bedroom, three-bathroom home in East Texas.

The charming spot is just “300 yards” away from the small ranch where Hoover grew up, where her family tended to around 50 cows.

In 2018, Hoover took to Instagram to show off a flick of her former home.

“This is the home I grew up in. I’ve come far since then. Like over 300 yards from this spot. That’s pretty far,” she said.

Although she lives close to her childhood home—which measures 2,544 square feet and for which she forked over $549,900—her current property is a world away.

Hoover’s home is surrounded by nature in a picturesque area of Texas, making it the perfect spot for her to lay low while the stars of her film continue their quarrel.

According to the listing, the home is “crafted from cedar with stone accents [and] seamlessly blends with the wooded lots that surround it, creating a serene and natural ambiance.”

Although the property is made mostly out of wood paneling, it features a green roof and green borders on the doors.

When you walk into the home, you are greeted with an expansive living room and vaulted ceilings.

The relaxation area includes a wood-burning fireplace and a wall of windows. The chef’s kitchen features blue cabinetry, custom-molded stainless countertops, and high-end appliances.

The home includes two primary bedroom suites, each featuring outdoor access.

On the lower level, there is a lavish bathroom with a heated floor to make your every day that much more luxurious.

The office space holds a chic desk that is sure to be the very spot Hoover penned many of her viral novels.

Downstairs, there is an extra room that can be used as a game room or storage space.

Hoover found overnight success through #BookTok, which began as TikTok users’ go-to hashtag to share their favorite novels and quickly became a viral trend in its own right, helping to propel many little-known tomes to incredible success.

“It Ends With Us” quickly garnered an overwhelming amount of praise, prompting Baldoni’s production company Wayfarer Studios and Saks Picture to purchase the film rights in 2019 and handle production.

The day after Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment in a lawsuit filed at the end of 2024, Hoover posted an Instagram Story showing her support for Lively.

“You have been nothing but honest, kind, supportive and patient since the day we met. Thank you for being exactly the human that you are. Never change. Never wilt,” the writer wrote alongside a snap of her hugging Lively.

Baldoni has fiercely denied Lively’s accusations. He filed a $250 million lawsuit on Dec. 31 against the New York Times, accusing the publication of working with Lively to publish a biased article about him. Lively’s legal team described it as “another chapter in the abuser playbook.”

Then on Jan. 16, Baldoni countered Lively’s lawsuit with a $400 million lawsuit against her and Reynolds, claiming defamation and extortion.

Baldoni’s 179-page complaint—which also names Lively and Reynolds’ publicist as a defendant—lays out a series of shocking allegations against the couple and even appears to drag their close friend Taylor Swift into the fray amid speculation that she is the “megacelebrity friend” referenced in the suit.

The mention of that friend was made while Baldoni was recounting an incident that he says took place at Lively and Reynolds’ tony Tribeca penthouse—where he claims he was “pressured” into accepting changes to the “It Ends With Us” script that had been made by the actress.

According to Baldoni, he was “summoned” to the couple’s New York City apartment to discuss changes that Lively had made to a movie scene that takes place between the two lead characters on a rooftop. The actor and director says that when he arrived at the home, he was greeted by Reynolds, who immediately began heaping praise on his wife’s script updates.

“As the meeting was ending, a famous, and famously close, friend of Reynolds and Lively, walked into the room and similarly began praising Lively’s script,” the lawsuit states, according to CNN. “Baldoni understood the subtext: he needed to comply with Lively’s direction for the script.”

Baldoni claims that he later sent Lively a text message to reiterate his appreciation for the changes that she had made, adding that he “would have felt that way without Ryan and Taylor,” and that he was “excited and grateful” to be working on the project with her. His reference to “Taylor” has led many to believe that the person in question is Swift.

The couple’s apartment is mentioned again in the lawsuit when Baldoni says that Reynolds “swore at [him] and accused him of fat-shaming his wife” while the director was paying a visit to the abode.
