Legendary singer Barry Manilow has revealed that he has been diagnosed with lung cancer and will need to postpone his scheduled concert dates for surgery.

The 82-year-old took to Instagram to share the news about his health, revealing that doctors discovered the disease during an MRI scan that detected a "cancerous spot" on one of his lungs after he suffered from bronchitis.

Manilow assured fans that he was going to be OK as he credited doctors for finding the spot early, adding that the medical professionals don't believe the cancer has spread to any other areas.

"As many of you know I recently went through six weeks of bronchitis followed by a relapse of another five weeks. Even though I was over the bronchitis and back on stage at the Westgate Las Vegas, my wonderful doctor ordered an MRI just to make sure that everything was OK.

"The MRI discovered a cancerous spot on my left lung that needs to be removed. It's pure luck (and a great doctor) that it was found so early," Manilow said, noting that he will be undergoing surgery to have the spot removed.

He noted that he will be recovering with his "chicken soup and 'I Love Lucy' reruns," and will not have to undergo chemo.

"The doctors do not believe it has spread, and I'm taking tests to confirm their diagnosis. So, that's it. No chemo. No radiation. Just chicken soup and 'I Love Lucy' reruns," he said.

The "Mandy" hitmaker, who just completed a string of performances at the McCallum Theatre in Palm Springs, CA, assured fans that his January concert dates would be rescheduled.

The singer will be recovering from his surgery at his 9,798 square foot Palm Springs home, which he snapped up in 1978.

It boasts eight bedrooms and five and a half bathrooms. The hillside villa also offers panoramic views of the Coachella Valley.

The dwelling is surrounded by palm trees, and of course, comes complete with a recording studio and resort-style pool.

He previously gushed about his life in Palm Springs, while speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, telling the outlet, "My life is so noisy, but it’s quiet here and it’s just beautiful. I wouldn’t live anywhere else.”

The singer once held the keys to a stunning apartment in New York City, however, it is believed he has since offloaded that dwelling.
