Podcaster Joe Rogan is used to seeing his name in the headlines thanks to his controversial and outspoken opinions on everything from celebrity gossip to political policy.

“The Joe Rogan Experience,” which he records largely at his $14.4 million home in Austin, TX, is widely regarded as one of the most successful podcasts in the world, but it seems listeners on Apple have a different opinion.

Rogan, 57, who drew a gargantuan audience with his three-hour-long interview with Donald Trump during his campaign for president, has seen his podcast tumble down the Apple rankings of most popular shows—falling to third place, behind the New York Times’ “The Daily” and a true-crime hit called “Crime Junkie.”

The news came shortly before Ukrainian boxer Wladimir Klitschko accused the podcaster of “pushing Russian propaganda on his podcast,” amid the war in Ukraine. Klitschko slammed Rogan’s comments about President Joe Biden‘s decision to provide U.S.-made missiles to Ukrainian forces.

In an episode with music producer Scott Storch, the two discussed their relief that Trump had won the election, and then criticized the Biden administration for providing Ukraine with long-range missiles for use in its war with Russia.

“I feel safer knowing that Trump is in office,” Storch told Rogan.

“What I don’t feel safer about is that now they’re launching missiles into Russia,” Rogan replied. “How are you allowed to do that when you’re on the way out? [There] should be, like, some sort of, like, a pause for, like, significant actions that could potentially start World War III.

“Yeah, [Vladimir] Putin should not have invaded Ukraine, yes, 100%, but don’t start World War III,” Rogan added.

In a video response, Klitschko addressed Rogan directly: “You talk about these American weapons being sent to Ukraine, which you believe will lead to the third World War.

“So, let me tell you that you’re repeating Russian propaganda. Putin’s Russia is in trouble, so they want to scare you and people like you.”

He added, “Putin’s Russia wants to destroy Ukraine quietly, they want America to stay quiet. Not great, but quiet. A great America is not an America that abandons countries that defend freedom with their lives.”

Klitschko offered to come on Rogan’s podcast so they could further discuss the topic as “free men.”

Rogan is no stranger to provoking outrage and controversy with his comments, and his show retains the top spot in Spotify’s rankings. However, his lackluster showing in the Apple charts will no doubt come as something of a surprise to the podcaster.

Indeed, Rogan’s show has proven so popular that even Vice President Kamala Harris reportedly considered an appearance on “The Joe Rogan Experience.” She ultimately opted for the more female-focused “Call Her Daddy” with host Alexandra Cooper.

Rogan has made extensive updates to the home, where he lives with his wife, Jessica Ditzel, and their children.

From L.A. to Austin

Still, the podcaster has managed to lure dozens of A-list celebrities to his new $14.4 million home on Lake Austin in Texas, where he moved to from California in 2020, and where he has built a custom studio to record his show.

Rogan, a former comedian, previously provided UFC color commentary before launching his podcast in 2009. By 2015, he was one of the most popular podcasters.

Rogan interviewed everyone from Edward Snowden to Neil deGrasse Tyson, J.D. Vance, and Bernie Sanders. (After Sanders appeared on his show in 2020, Rogan endorsed the Democratic Party candidate in the 2020 presidential race.)

In 2020, Rogan moved from Southern California to Austin after reportedly agreeing to an estimated $100 million deal to broadcast exclusively with Spotify.

In February 2024, Rogan reportedly signed a new $250 million agreement with Spotify that allowed him to broadcast on other platforms, including YouTube and Apple.

That same year, Rogan opened up about his decision to relocate to Texas, explaining that California’s strict COVID-19 restrictions were partly to blame.

“Everything’s shut down, everything’s staying shut down,” he recalled of the pandemic in California. “All my friends that were in the restaurant industry were struggling.

“I started looking out here in May [of that year], and I went to a restaurant with my kids, and they were like, ‘We don’t have to wear a mask? We could eat at a restaurant?’ Then we went to the lake, and people are playing music and jumping in the water, and [my children] were like, ‘We want to live here!

“That was it. Two months later I lived here.”

In 2022, he explained that he believed he would find “more freedom” in Texas than he was able to enjoy on the West Coast.

Since his Texas move, he seems to be recording shows in a studio built inside his sleek mansion, which sits right on Lake Austin.

Waterfront wonder

Rogan’s 4-acre property comes with 300 feet of Lake Austin frontage, according to the original listing. The 11,000-square-foot mansion was built in 2008 and offers eight bedrooms and 10 baths.

The parklike surroundings include “views of the lake and the undeveloped preserve land on the opposite side.” There are three docks, a pool, and terraces.

The mansion features a formal dining room with built-ins, a dual-island kitchen with a casual eating area, a living area with floor-to-ceiling windows, and an office. A gym can also be found on the grounds.

Rogan’s Instagram account reveals several upgrades he made in addition to his studio, including a cold plunge tub and a sauna.

The locale, not far from downtown Austin but seemingly a world away, was a draw for Hollywood A-lister Sandra Bullock, who reportedly owns a home in the area.
