The Hawaii home where Justin Bieber famously vacationed in 2015 has been sold for $6.25 million after spending two years on the market.

The cliffside property not only comes with incredible views, lush surroundings, and modernist architecture, it also boasts an impressive Hollywood heritage.

As well as Bieber, who paid $10,000 a night to stay in the estate, action star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has vacationed in the Big Island property, which is known as the “Waterfalling Estate” because of its position atop a cliff overlooking the ocean.

It has also been featured in several TV shows, including “Love Island” and “Ex on the Beach.”

Surprisingly, the home was not sold to a celebrity superfan or even a prolific property investor. The buyer is a company that plans to overhaul the home and “restore it to its former glory” before putting it back on the market.

ReUp Living, the company that has now acquired the home, is eager to give it the renovation that it deserves—and has partnered with the home’s original builder to ensure that every element receives a picture-perfect refresh.

That may well be a formidable challenge, given that the home comes with so many different—and hard-to-maintain—amenities, from an Olympic-size swimming pool to its own tennis court.

According to the company’s CEO, it was these impressive sporting assets that drew in at least one of its former A-list guests.

“The Rock stayed at the property when he was filming one of his movies in Hawaii,” says Ryan Sawchuk. “The thing that attracted him to the property was the gym.”

But beyond a place to get your reps in, the property’s most glam aspect is nature itself: an amazing—and private—240-foot waterfall.

“Each of the five bedrooms has a view of the waterfall,” says Sawchuk.

Picture-perfect locale

Built in 2005, the mansion sits on the windward side of the island perched on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. And thanks to its picture-perfect setting, the residence appeared on the third season of “Love Island” and the first season of “Ex on the Beach.”

“Most of the filming for ‘Love Island’ took place on the pool deck on the lower level,” says Sawchuk.

With an Olympic-size pool (plus a two-story waterslide and 20-foot high dive), a nine-hole golf course, a tennis stadium, and a driveway designed to turn into a go-kart track, the property is an entertainer’s paradise. The pool, hot tubs, and tennis stadium have all been restored.

“The pool is absolutely breathtaking. I don’t know that I’ve seen many properties with an Olympic-sized pool,” says Sawchuk. “We’re actually offering the opportunity to extend the golf course to 18 holes.”

Heading back on the market in April

ReUp Living acquires properties in need of restoration—then courts a buyer who desires a move-in ready masterpiece with customizations, but who doesn’t want to deal with the hassle of contractors.

The goal is to tailor the house to the buyer’s specifications, says Sawchuk. That includes the finishes, flooring, hardware, and other materials.

ReUp Living hired the home’s original architect-builder, Scott Watson, to revert the home to the original design.

Most of the work has revolved around removing updates—including painted-over hardwood ceilings—and bringing back Watson’s original vision.

After it’s completed in April, the property will go back on the market.

What will likely attract a buyer is the location.

“The town of Hamakua has done a great job making sure it’s not overdeveloped,” says Sawchuk. “It still has the feel of Hawaii.”

And yet, within a 20-minute drive is Hilo as well as the airport, appealing to not just jet-setters but also those who don’t want to be cut off from modern amenities.
