Kelly Clarkson Reveals She’s Ending Her NBC Talk Show To ‘Prioritize’ Her Kids—so, Will the TV Host Leave New York for Good?

Kelly Clarkson has revealed that she is saying goodbye to her beloved talk show after seven seasons so that she can "prioritize" spending time with her children.

The 43-year-old mom of two announced the news in an Instagram post, expressing her thanks to everyone who has worked on the talk show, which began its broadcasts in Los Angeles before moving to New York.

“I have been extremely fortunate to work with such an outstanding group of people at ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show,' both in Los Angeles and New York. There have been so many amazing moments and shows over these seven seasons," Clarkson said in a statement posted to her Instagram account.

"I am forever grateful and honored to have worked alongside the greatest band and crew you could hope for, all the talent and inspiring people who have shared their time and lives with us, all the fans who have supported our show and to NBC for always being such a supportive and incredible partner."

Her announcement comes just months after her former spouse, Brandon Blackstock, died following a three-year battle with melanoma.

The "American Idol" alum noted that her decision to step away from the show would help her "prioritize" her children, which is "necessary."

"This was not an easy decision, but this season will be my last hosting ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show.' Stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives," she added.

The "Since You Been Gone" singer shares daughter River Rose, 11, and son Remington Alexander, 9, with Blackstock, who died in August 2025.

Clarkson revealed that the show will continue through fall 2026 and showcase special guest hosts.

She insisted that she isn't stepping away from the spotlight forever, telling fans that "this isn't goodbye" because she has plans to record new music and appear as a judge on "The Voice."

"For now, I want to thank y’all so much for allowing our show to be a part of your lives, and for believing in us and hanging with us for seven incredible years," Clarkson said at the end of her post.

During its seven-year run, "The Kelly Clarkson Show" has garnered 24 Daytime Emmy Awards, including four wins for Outstanding Daytime Talk Series and four wins for Outstanding Talk Show Host.

The series also won awards at the People’s Choice Awards, Gracie Awards, Webby Awards, and the Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild Awards. It also received nominations from the Critics Choice Awards, MTV Movie & TV Awards, GLAAD Media Awards, and the Writers Guild of America Awards.

Clarkson began production of her series in Los Angeles, before moving the show to the Big Apple, where she has since resided with her children. However, with the show now drawing to an end, questions linger over whether the singer will remain in New York—or quit the city to return to one of her other abodes.

New York City

When "The Kelly Clarkson Show" entered its fifth season in 2023, it began taping in New York City, prompting the singer and her two kids to move to the Big Apple.

Not much is known about Clarkson's new home because it is a rental. However, the singer previously revealed that her pad is just blocks away from Central Park.

"At this point, I’m 40 years old. Mama rented something nice! I was like, ‘I’m not living here unless it’s right by the park and really nice for the kids,’" she previously told USA Today.

Clarkson also gushed about the ambiance in the Big Apple, telling People magazine that it's a "beautiful place" and that its "energy" is "very me."

A source also told People that the move marked a "fresh start" for the A-lister and that she "didn't regret" it.

Los Angeles

Just one year before her show moved to the Big Apple, Clarkson put down roots in L.A.

In June 2021, she picked up a gated estate in Toluca Lake, a high-end neighborhood with celebrity residents that have included Octavia Spencer, Melissa McCarthy, and Kirsten Dunst.

Clarkson paid $5.45 million for the compound, which includes a Colonial-style main house, a guesthouse, a lighted tennis court, and a pool.

Renovated in 1985, the 1930s-era mansion sits on just over an acre.

Not long after buying that home, Clarkson sold her modern farmhouse in Encino, CA, for $8.24 million in September 2021.

It was a loss for Clarkson, who purchased the custom-built property in 2018 for $8.5 million. She had listed the home for just under $10 million in May 2020, after her split from Blackstock.

The 10,000-square-foot Encino residence has eight bedrooms, nine bathrooms, and two half-bathrooms.

With a color palette of white, gray, and black, the eye-catching space features wood beams, walls of glass, and a sleek kitchen with three islands.

Interior amenities include a home theater, fitness center, game room, and wine cellar.

Out back, there's a multilevel pool, lounge area, fire pit, kitchen with a pizza oven, and grassy lawn. The property comes with a two-bedroom guesthouse.

Montana

At the onset of the COVID-19 lockdown in March 2020, Clarkson’s talk show shut down and her Las Vegas residency was postponed. So she and her family decamped to a ranch in Montana, where they lived in a log cabin and rode horses while riding out the global pandemic.

“Hiding in Montana,” she wrote alongside a video she shared on Instagram at the time.

Property records show that she purchased the rural property in 2019. While the final sale price wasn't disclosed, the 5,700-acre ranch was previously on the market for $9.9 million.

The cattle ranch with horses and acreage seemed to have provided the perfect place to social distance with her family.

Clarkson also appeared to embrace the gift of time with her family on the picturesque property.

"It's nice to get into nature. ... It's nice to just come out here and sit by the stream and hear the water flowing and be around all the trees,” she said.

In her divorce settlement with Blackstock, it was revealed that Clarkson had been granted ownership of their "two" Montana properties, suggesting that they may have added on to their enormous estate with the purchase of another plot.

Tennessee

In 2007, Clarkson went a little bit country and picked up a relatively modest Nashville home. Located in the Belle Meade neighborhood, the charming stone cottage cost the singer a reported $1.5 million.

After four years of ownership, she took a loss on the three-bedroom home in 2011, selling it for $1.2 million.

Instead of singing the blues, Clarkson shopped around for another Nashville-area residence. In 2014, she snapped up a huge 275-acre farm in Lebanon, TN, for $1.96 million.

Located about 30 minutes outside of Nashville, the retreat offers a fishing lake, a one-bedroom cottage, and a large barn for storage or entertaining.

She had better luck with this investment, which she sold in 2020 for $3 million.

In 2012, Clarkson and Blackstock snagged a luxury spread in Hendersonville, TN, for $2,860,000. They poured serious money into a custom remodel.

The seven-bedroom spread offers 20,000 square feet of living space and sits on 4 acres.

Features include a two-story great room with a fireplace, an eat-in kitchen and adjacent family room, a screening room, a game room, and a cowboy bar with horse-saddle seats.

Outside, a split staircase from the balcony leads to a saltwater pool with two spas, a covered dining area, and private lake access, plus a dock.

In 2017, Clarkson listed the mansion for $8.75 million. It was finally sold in June 2021 for $6.3 million.

It is not thought that Clarkson currently owns a residence in Tennessee.
