An eye-popping penthouse in Ann Arbor, MI, owned by retired kitchen cabinet mogul Richard Merillat and wife Lynette has just hit the market for $7 million.

The maximalist three-bedroom residence located high atop The Brady Apartments boasts a colorful and wildly outfitted interior, custom created by over-the-top interior designer Robert Denning, who was well known for his extravagant use of color.

From the colorful wallpaper, opulent ceilings, mirrored doors, and varying floor tiles to the statues, lamps, collectibles, dramatic drapes, bust sculptures, paintings and photos lining the walls, and full-size merry-go-round horses, the residence is being offered fully furnished (with a few exclusions).

Every square inch of the residence was designed to reflect "uncompromising quality" while also highlighting "historically significant furnishings," including some from the Versace Estate.

"Decor and furnishings aside, without too much debate, this is the finest penthouse condo that exists in Ann Arbor," says listing agent Matt Dejanovich of Real Estate One Ann Arbor. "It occupies the top floors in one of the tallest buildings in town that has a residential component."

Built in 2002, the 5,000-square-foot unit was originally two separate units when the seller purchased them.

"He combined them into one, so that amount of space is also unmatched," says Dejanovich. "It's a substantial footprint of living space that you might see in New York, but don't see in Midwest Ann Arbor. It's a very rare thing."

The downtown residence where "no expense was spared" offers stunning skyline views of Ann Arbor from nearly every room while also overlooking Michigan Stadium.

"That view is iconic, so there is also nothing comparable to that amenity," he says. ""The interior is a tribute to historic Parisian living, featuring timeless architecture combined with modern luxury."

A private elevator opens up to a two-story foyer with sweeping staircase. Other ornate details include marble floors, custom millwork, bespoke chandeliers, and glass walls in nearly every room, offering panoramic city views.

"Downtown Ann Arbor is an incredibly desirous place to live, and this residence is within walking distance to nearby shops and restaurants," adds Dejanovich. "The location is as good as it gets and to have these views is truly unparalleled."

For minimalists, when you look past all of the furnishings, a grand two-story living room designed for entertaining and everyday living features a wood-burning fireplace, custom TV cabinetry, and access to an outdoor terrace.

A spacious dining area has two sets of tables for both intimate gatherings and grand-scale entertaining.

As for the kitchen, the smaller work area boasts Merillat's specialty—mirrored cabinetry. Other highlights include high-end appliances, stone countertops, French doors that open up to a terrace, and a uniquely positioned nude flutist sculpture standing prominently atop the center island.

The corner primary suite has a spa-inspired bathroom with dual vanities, lots of mirrors, a soaking tub, separate shower, and terrace access.

Two en suite bedrooms, a dedicated home office, and a secondary living room can all be found upstairs, along with a life-size housekeeper that looks like she was plucked from Madame Tussauds wax museum.

Wraparound terraces with two distinct sitting areas are connected by a catwalk to extend the living experience outdoors.

"It was used as a secondary residence for the sellers, and likely will be for the next buyer as well," Dejanovich notes.

"We have already had a lot of interest in the property. I am hoping to find a buyer who appreciates what has been created there. It's a package of location, space, amenities, and furnishings."
