Kristen Wiig Reveals She Had Her $5 Million Home ‘Ghost Busted’ by Online Psychic: ‘My House Felt Different’

Comedian Kristen Wiig doesn't joke around when it comes to tackling potential paranormal activity—admitting in a new interview with her fellow A-lister Amy Poehler that she went to extreme lengths to ensure that her Pasadena, CA, property was protected from any eerie spirits.

Appearing on Poehler's hit podcast, "Good Hang," Wiig, 52, confessed that she had her $5 million home "ghost busted" by an expert in New Mexico, who performed the service over the internet.

When asked by Poehler, 54, "What's the most woohoo thing you believe in?" the "Bridesmaids" star joked that, no matter what her host was about to mention, she "probably" believed in it.

So, the podcast star narrowed her line of questioning: "Do you believe in ghosts? Have you seen a ghost?"

Wiig noted that she has never seen a ghost—that she's aware of—but has been in situations where she has felt a presence of something otherworldly.

"No, I haven't seen one, but I've felt them," she explained. "There have been times when I've gone into ... when I go into a place, sometimes I can ... especially if someone died there."

While the comedian and former "Saturday Night Live" star might not have seen a ghost in person, she was taking no chances when it comes to guarding her home against the spirits—noting that she was put in touch with a "ghost buster" by a friend who had already enlisted her services.

"I have had my house 'ghost busted,' though," she admitted, prompting Poehler to crease up with laughter.

"A professional ghost buster?" Poehler asked.

"Online, yes," Wiig responded as Poehler cackled.

Elaborating further on how this interaction with the "ghost buster" occurred, Wiig said: "I need to explain. My friend had her house ghost busted, and she was telling the story."

According to Wiig, her friend recounted how she had called the woman, who lives in New Mexico, noting that "things had happened after" in her home—leaving Wiig so intrigued that she felt compelled to try the "ghost busting" herself.

"I was like, 'That's crazy. ... What's her number?' Because she told me things that had happened after post-bust. And I was like, 'Oh, this is interesting,'" she shared.

"And I did it, and I swear to God, my house felt different [after]. I love her, though."

To her credit, Wiig does live in a historical home that was built nearly 100 years ago—although it has since undergone an elegant renovation carried out by the previous owners, who sold the dwelling to the on-screen star.

Located on a leafy street in Pasadena, the 1930 Georgian-style property was described in its listing as a "trophy estate" with a "magnificent colonial façade" and "stately character."

The description noted that the property's former occupants, filmmakers Sarah Wetherbee and Emre Sahin, had spent $1 million renovating the abode. The couple had revealed to the Los Angeles Times that they enlisted interior designer Deborah Rhein-Gleiberman and architect Kevin Oreck to help them with the project.

The result, according to the listing, was a property that "seamlessly blends old world original charm with whimsical modern flair and sophistication."

Boasting three bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, and an array of expansive living spaces, the property was remodeled with an "open floor plan that flows from one room to the next with ease."

According to records, Wiig snapped up the home from Wetherbee and Sahin for $4.94 million in 2021, weeks after it had been listed—paying over the $4.8 million asking price.

Wiig did not elaborate on how, exactly, the feeling in her home changed after the ghost busting. However, she did open up about one other very eerie experience in her life. It occurred when she was just 14.

When asked by Poehler if she "believe[s] in astral projection? People visiting each other in dreams?" the "Good Hang" guest was quick to confirm that she does.

"My great aunt visited me in a dream after she died," she revealed. "I woke up and I sobbed. I was, like, 14, but I knew she was there. I believe in all that stuff."
