“Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Kyle Richards is attempting to move on from her marriage to estranged husband Mauricio Umansky by making some significant updates to the $8.5 million home they once shared.

In a recent episode of her hit Bravo reality show, Richards, 56, who split from Umansky in 2023 after 27 years of marriage, explains how she was inspired to switch things up at her home after visiting her castmate, Dorit Kemsley, who is also in the process of going through a marital separation.

While visiting Kemsley at her home, Richards noted that the fashion designer still had numerous photos of herself and her estranged husband, P.K., scattered around the dwelling.

“You’re just as bad as me with photos. This looks like a shrine,” she told her friend and co-star.

The realization seems to have prompted Richards to make a major change in her own Encino, CA, abode, with the mother of four revealing in the latest episode of the RHOBH “After Show” that she has taken down all of the photos that showed just her and Umansky, admitting that “it was time.”

“Just last week, [I] took the [photos] down next to my bed,” she explained. “I left the family ones up, and then I put the other ones of just Mau and me in the drawer.

“It was time. I mean, he definitely doesn’t have them up in his condo.”

Richards’ redecorating decision is one of many updates she has made—or is making—to the dwelling, which she and Umansky moved into back in 2017, when they snapped up the seven-bedroom property for $8.3 million.

In an earlier episode from Season 14, the reality star was seen asking Umansky for his advice on different wallpaper samples that she wanted to use in the bathroom, having already received his seal of approval on the new paint color she’d used in the space.

“Oh my God, you painted the bathroom,” he exclaimed after seeing the updates for the first time. “I love the gray, I think it looks great. “

One house update that Umansky wasn’t so keen on? Richards’ decision to take over his (former) closet.

“I may or may not have put some of my things in your closet, because I needed some space and I was like, ‘It’s just sitting there!'” she confessed to her then spouse, who simply responded: “Oh my god.”

Richards and Umansky purchased the property in 2017 for $8.25 million, and it quickly became their family home up until their separation.

The front of the gated property features lush landscaping with a topiary garden and a stunning fountain that leads up to the entrance.

Inside, guests are welcomed with an expansive living area adorned with white wall molding and sophisticated furniture.

There are three en suites that are adjacent to the luxe master suite, which has a balcony that overlooks the property’s grounds.

The home also boasts eight fireplaces, formal living and dining spaces, a state-of-the-art open kitchen, a home theater, library, and two powder rooms.

Although Richards has been making various changes to the home, she has previously admitted that she and Umansky may end up selling the property, explaining in another episode of “After Show” that they had yet to make up their minds about what to do with their former marital abode.

“We still have not filed for divorce or anything, but … we have had more conversations about like, ‘What should we do?’ she explained.

“Should I still live where I’m living? Should we sell the house and each go buy two new homes? Or do we keep the house, because it is such a special property and just each go our different ways?”

For now, Richards seems content to remain in the residence—which she had been sharing with her close friend, Teddi Mellencamp, up until recently.

When Mellencamp, 43, split from her own spouse, Edwin Arroyave, in late 2024, Richards offered her a place to stay so she could remain close to her children and continue to co-parent with her estranged husband.

Mellencamp—who recently underwent surgery to remove several tumors from her brain—first revealed that she was “living at Kyle’s” in a Dec. 5 episode of her “Diamonds in the Rough” podcast with fellow Bravo star Erika Jayne, saying at the time: “Thankfully, Kyle has let me do that.”

She added that, because her and Arroyave’s marital home—which they purchased in 2020 for $6.5 million—is so close to Richards’ own Encino property, she can “just zip on over” whenever she needs to, adding that the living arrangement “works out really well for the kids.”

Richards later clarified their living situation, explaining that Mellencamp was only living with her part-time, whenever Arroyave needed to be in their home to care for the kids.

“I have shared custody with Teddi Mellencamp. She lives with me on Tuesdays and Wednesdays,” she said, noting that this arrangement allows Mellencamp and Arroyave to continue co-parenting their children without too much upheaval.

Mellencamp is currently in the hospital recovering from her surgery, and it is unclear whether she plans to return to Richards’ home when she is released.
