Hollywood actress Nina Dobrev and professional snowboarder Shaun White have called off their engagement and ended their relationship after five years together—just 24 months after the once-happy couple purchased their first home together in Los Angeles.

The Winter Olympian, 39, and "The Vampire Diaries" actress, 39, began dating in 2019 and quickly became one of Hollywood's most loved couples, regularly jetting off on trips around the world together, while sharing images of themselves engaging in all manner of action-packed adventures.

Then, in October 2024, White took their romance to the next level when he popped the question to Dobrev with a stunning 5-carat diamond that she proudly flaunted on her social media accounts while announcing the engagement.

However, their seemingly perfect love story has come to a sudden end, according to People, which first reported the news of their split.

"It was a mutual decision, and wasn’t an easy one, but it was made with love and a deep respect for one another," a source close to the couple told the outlet.

White and Dobrev's breakup is all the more surprising given that they were seen strolling hand in hand through a market near their Los Angeles abode less than two weeks before the news of their split.

Still, "The Vampire Diaries" star did give away a few telltale signs that all was not well in paradise, particularly after she walked the red carpet at the premiere of "The Eternity" without her dazzling rock.

Breakup rumors heightened when the star unpinned her dreamy engagement photos from her Instagram account, which had been at the top of her page since October 2024.

Although White and Dobrev have yet to publicly comment on the split, there were also other, more subtle signs of trouble between the duo going on behind the scenes—including their decision to rent out the midcentury modern abode that they bought together for $4.3 million in July 2023.

Although Dobrev and White each boast their own impressive property portfolios, they decided to merge their real estate holdings when they snapped up the Hollywood Hills house, which many believed would serve as their marital home.

The couple purchased the property after moving in together during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 3,793-square-foot home comes with four bedrooms and four bathrooms.

Built in 1964, the property features a two-car garage, a stunning infinity pool, and lush landscaping.

The exterior also features a bocce court and tropical garden.

The multistory abode boasts a chic chef's kitchen with a wooden island and state-of-the-art stainless-steel appliances.

The living area is the perfect place to entertain guests as it features wooden touches, a marble coffee table, and multiple seating areas.

There are also glass sliding doors that open to the balcony and allow for natural light to flood in.

The entrance to the property is certainly impressive as it features a large wooden door and floating wooden shelves.

The primary bedroom is spacious and features a large glass sliding door that opens to the balcony, an expansive window, and a cozy fireplace.

It is unclear who will take ownership of the home now that the couple have split. According to property records, the dwelling was put up for rent for $34,995 a month in February 2025. The listing was removed just days later, with records indicating that it was leased.

Dobrev also holds the keys to a 1920s Spanish-style home in West Hollywood, which she picked up in 2021, and may just be the property she moves into if she doesn't take ownership of the abode she and White lived in together.

Meanwhile, the snowboarding champion owns several homes, including a ranch in Nevada, a $7.7 million Malibu estate, and a five-bedroom, six-bathroom cabin in Utah.

Dobrev and White first met in 2012, but they didn't get to know each other until 2019, when they were both booked as speakers at a Florida event.

White recalled their first event together to People, telling the outlet that he "didn't know anything" about her, but he thought it was "really funny" when fans began asking Dobrev for a photo.

"And I was like, 'What's happening? What's going on?' It was actually really funny," he said.

They began dating in 2019 and swiftly moved in together because of the pandemic.

They made their romance Instagram official in May 2020 with a series of flicks of the actress cutting his hair.

"Nina's just been so supportive and so amazing through this whole process for me. Through the pandemic, she was a lifesaver—she really made that time in my life special," White later told People.

Throughout their five-year relationship, the couple shared photos of their time together on social media.

In 2022, Dobrev was at White's side when he competed in his fifth and final Winter Olympics, which he branded "emotional" and "overwhelming."

Ahead of the event, he told People, "We're just enjoying our time together right now. No pressure, but I told her, I was like, 'Look, after the Olympics, I finally got my freedom to do whatever. And let's just have fun and be together and support each other.'

"But you never know. We'll see what happens."

He fooled Dobrev by telling her that they were heading to a Vogue event hosted by Anna Wintour.

Dobrev shared images of the dreamy proposal on her Instagram account with the caption, "RIP boyfriend, hello fiancé."
