Odell Beckham Jr. Is Leaving Miami Dolphins After Just Seven Months: See How Wild NFL Career Has Impacted His Real Estate
NFL star Odell Beckham Jr. is officially parting ways with the Miami Dolphins after just seven months, the team announced Friday.
The move marks the latest in a long line of twists and turns in OBJ’s career—which began with the New York Giants in 2014 and has since seen him bounce around to multiple teams, moving to the Cleveland Browns, then the Baltimore Ravens, and the Los Angeles Rams.
In May 2024, Beckham found himself another NFL home in the form of the Dolphins, who signed him to a one-year contract before releasing him early after he appeared in just nine games.
According to multiple sources, the football pro’s departure from the team was a “mutual agreement,” with NFL journalist Tom Pelissero revealing on X: “The #Dolphins and three-time Pro Bowl WR Odell Beckham Jr. have mutually agreed to part ways, per sources.
“Beckham is hoping for more opportunities elsewhere and the team is granting his release. He’ll be on waivers until Monday.”
The question now remains: Where will Beckham head next? Thus far, speculation has spread far and wide, with some suggesting he might return to the Browns, while others have thrown new teams like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers into the mix.
Thankfully, Beckham is more than accustomed to relocating—in fact, picking up his life and moving to a new state has become something of a habit for him in the past few years, so much so that he has limited planting permanent roots.
Though the sports star has lived in an array of ultralavish mansions throughout his NFL career, his personal property portfolio has been much more sparse–with Beckham choosing rentals and leases over purchases for much of the past 10 years, save for a sprawling Ohio property he bought while playing with the Browns.
While playing for the Giants, Beckham is said to have lived in Weehawken, NJ, in a $2.3 million, five-bedroom pad with views of the Manhattan skyline.
The home features a three-car garage, a private elevator, motorized gate, and a top-of-the-line security system. A massive primary suite with an expansive sliding-glass wall leads to an upper terrace. The primary bath features an Italian marble wall above a soaking tub, two vanities, and a glass-enclosed, two-person rain shower.
The home has a fully customized walk-in closet, a gourmet kitchen, walnut hardwood floors, massive quartz countertops, high ceilings, and floor-to-ceiling custom cabinetry. The family and rec rooms have glass shelving and wine coolers.
In 2016, Beckham lived at Drake’s Calabasas mansion in 2016 during his NFL offseason.
That home is a 3-acre, resort-style home tucked away in the ultraexclusive, gated enclave of Hidden Hills. The English Tudor home is set on a private cul-de-sac and surrounded by equestrian trails. The 12,500-square-foot home features coffered and beamed ceilings, six fireplaces, and a wine cellar with a separate tasting room.
The primary suite totals 2,000 square feet and has a luxury spa bathroom.
Outside is a massive swimming pool with a spa grotto, swim-up bar, cascading waterfalls, an 8-foot-long rock waterslide, and outdoor televisions.
There are also tennis and basketball courts, a sand volleyball court, a horse stable and equestrian ring, a mechanical riding bull, and a 25-seat theater.
When Beckham played for the Cleveland Browns from 2019 to 2020, he tore his ACL and missed the remainder of the season.
While there, he lived in a $3.3 million home in Columbia Station, OH. He bought the property in 2019 for $1,617,500. The four-bedroom, seven-bathroom mansion totals 13,800 square feet.
Some of the spectacular features include a walk-in showroom with floor-to-ceiling shelves, multicolored lighting, and a massive shoe collection.
The home’s main level was decorated with sports memorabilia. The floor plan includes a living room, dining room, and an eat-in kitchen. There’s also a home theater, video game room, and golf simulator in the house.
The finished basement has a bar, billiard room, wine storage, and media lounge. There’s also an area for haircuts, equipped with a red barber chair.
The backyard features an outdoor kitchen, a swimming pool with waterfalls and a slide, custom dog kennels, and a spacious gym. Beckham sold the house in 2022 for $3.3 million.
He’s being released from the Dolphins after signing a one-year, $3 million contract in May.
According to the NFL Network’s Mike Garofalo, “Odell Beckham is owed ~$200k the rest of the season, so a claim wouldn’t cost a team much at all.”
Where he goes next remains to be seen.
