A gorgeous home where former Boston Red Sox pitcher Derek Lowe once lived is now available for $6.85 million.

The 11,190-square-foot residence in Fort Myers, FL, is where Lowe laid his head during spring training when he starred for the Sox. It was also his off-season abode for a couple of years.

Lowe’s ex-wife Trinka Lowe is the home’s current owner. The then-couple built the home for their family in 2002, the same year Derek was named an American League All-Star. The couple filed for divorce in 2005, after well-publicized marital issues.

“It’s absolutely stunning and luxurious—but it’s also super fun,” says listing agent Jeff Burns, with Premier Sotheby’s International Realty. “I’ve never seen a home like this, with as many fun little areas in it—from a pool table to a ballet room to a crafting room to a gym that’s bigger than most public gyms—it’s just got everything.”

The home is also equipped with a basketball and pickleball court, four-hole putting green, cigar room, theater, and resort-style pool.

“Most homes have a few things here, a few things there—this one has every one of the fun things I can think of,” Burns says, noting that the home theater is his personal favorite. “I can see a family sitting there and watching multiple movies a weekend.”

Prior to the couple’s split, they wanted to create a home that would appeal to adults and kids alike.

“I call it comfortably luxurious,” Burns says. “This is a very inviting and welcoming home. It doesn’t feel overwhelming.”

The main house has four bedrooms and a guest wing that offers plenty of privacy for overnighters.

“If you have guests over, they’re in kind of their own area with its own garage underneath the guesthouse,” Burns explains.

The home sits on 2.38 acres in the back section of a gated community, just a short drive from the local baseball stadiums and the beach.

Burns says the dwelling’s lovely exterior makes a high-impact first impression.

“It has two stone pillars on either side, and it’s just this massive facade—but not overly imposing,” he says. “It’s beautiful, and you just say to yourself, ‘This home is just absolutely stunning. I cannot wait to see what it offers inside.’”

Lowe won a World Series with the Red Sox in 2004 and played for several teams, including the Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves. He retired from baseball in 2013.
