The Old Farmer’s Almanac has released its Fall 2025 weather outlook, and for the Midwest, the season is shaping up to be brisk and dry.

While much of the western U.S. will see warmer-than-average conditions, Wisconsin—including Sheboygan—will cool down early and stay that way.

At the same time, Sheboygan is making housing headlines: the city has landed among 50 Hottest ZIP Codes of 2025 according to Realtor.com®, a signal that buyers are finding strong appeal in this lakeside market.

Cooler and drier days for Wisconsin

The Almanac calls for a cooler- and drier-than-normal fall across Wisconsin.

In the Upper Midwest region, September is forecast to average 57°F—about 2° below normal—with 3.5 inches of rain, slightly more than typical. Expect drizzle and even some early snow in the north, though southern Wisconsin should see milder showers. By October, the average drops to 45°F with only 1.5 inches of rain, leaving Sheboygan residents bracing for crisp mornings and the possibility of a few flakes.

This contrasts with national trends. While the Northeast and Ohio Valley will also see cooler conditions, regions like the Southeast and Atlantic Corridor will run warmer than usual.

Sheboygan joins America’s hottest housing markets

Even as the weather cools, Sheboygan’s real estate market is heating up. ZIP code 53083 ranked No. 32 on the Realtor.com list of the 50 Hottest ZIP Codes of 2025. Homes here had a median list price of $326,000, drew 2.9× more views per property than the U.S. average, and sold in just 32 days—a brisk pace compared with national trends.

Nearby, other Wisconsin cities also earned spots. Waukesha (ZIP 53186) ranked No. 14 with a $341,000 median list price, and Racine (ZIP 53402) landed at No. 30 with a $329,000 median. Together, these results underscore that buyers are flocking to markets outside Milwaukee and Madison, attracted by relative affordability and quality of life.

As Danielle Hale, Realtor.com chief economist, explained, this year’s hottest ZIPs highlight “a housing market shaped by strategic shoppers, those who are financially ready, regionally mobile, and focused on long-term value”.

September to-dos for Sheboygan homeowners

For homeowners in Sheboygan, early fall is prime time to get ahead of cooler weather. Realtor.com’s September home maintenance guide offers a few smart tips.

Ryan Williams, general manager of 128 Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electric, suggests inspecting walkways before snow and ice arrive. “Fix walkway and entryway areas before slippery weather can cause a tripping or falling accident,” he says.

Chris Granger, VP of Sears Home Services, recommends giving siding a good pressure wash and checking for cracks. “September is a great time to use a pressure washer to clean it up—and inspect for more serious problems before winter comes”.

Other must-dos include resealing drafty windows, cleaning chimneys before the first fire of the season, and swapping out air filters to keep heating systems efficient.
