This fall in South Windsor, CT, homeowners can expect a cooler-than-usual and drier season.

The Old Farmer’s Almanac has released its Fall 2025 Weather Predictions, and Connecticut is bracing for a brisk autumn.

Given that South Windsor was ranked as the #9 hottest housing market on the Realtor.com 2025 Hottest ZIP Codes list, homeowners in the area are willing to face the chill, but are they totally prepare for what's come with the autumn weather? If not, we can help you prepare!

Connecticut forecast for brisk conditions

According to the Almanac, the Appalachians region will be cooler and drier overall this fall. September will average 65°F with three inches of rain, about two inches below normal in the north. October will cool to 53°F with 2.5 inches of rain, one inch below average.

Connecticut specifically is predicted to be cool and dry, setting up ideal conditions for traditional autumn weather and colorful foliage.

Across the country, much of the western U.S. is expected to see warmer-than-average conditions, while regions like the Upper Midwest and Appalachians trend cooler. Rainfall will likely be below normal from California to Florida, with the Pacific Northwest and High Plains standing out as exceptions.

South Windsor ranks #9 among nation’s hottest ZIP codes

The Realtor.com Hottest ZIP Codes 2025 report placed South Windsor’s 06074 at #9 nationally, thanks to high buyer demand. Homes here received 5× more views than the U.S. average and sold in only 27 days.

In June 2025, South Windsor’s median listing price was $449,000, just above the national median of $441,000 but still slightly lower than the Hartford metro’s $464,000. That balance of affordability and suburban lifestyle continues to attract buyers.

Other nearby markets in the top 10 include Trumbull, CT (06611) at #7 and Cumberland, RI (02864) at #8, showing how New England remains a magnet for buyers.

September home maintenance priorities for South Windsor

Cool, dry weather creates the perfect backdrop for tackling fall chores:

  • Check walkways for cracks. “Fix walkway and entryway areas before slippery weather can cause a tripping or falling accident,” advises Ryan Williams, general manager of 128 Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electric.
  • Clean siding. After summer humidity, Chris Granger of Sears Home Services notes that siding can show mildew or dirt. A good pressure wash can refresh curb appeal and uncover hidden issues.
  • Sweep the chimney. Even if warmer days linger, cooler nights will arrive. “Built-up soot in your chimney can increase your risk of a chimney fire,” warns Lindsey Pasieka of ConsumerSafety.org.
  • Change HVAC filters. Dirty filters reduce efficiency and can damage systems over time. Granger recommends replacing them monthly to keep bills in check.
