The historic Jennie Bramhall House just hit the market in Portland, OR, for $1,175,000.

Updates to the stone home, built in 1909, were featured on the DIY Network show “Restoration Realities,” according to The Oregonian.

Originally designed by Portland architect Alfred Faber, the unusual structure is a combination of Queen Anne styling and cast concrete-block construction, the listing notes.

“The cool part about concrete-block construction is that it is extremely rare and features an old Victorian style,” says listing agent Kristin Rader, of Keller Williams Sunset Corridor. “The prior owner did a lot of the concrete work herself. In the fall, they had these massive Halloween setups all over the lawn that everyone loved.”

The current owners bought the residence in a short sale in 2011 for $600,000. And they’ll nearly double their money if they get anywhere near the asking price.

“Before them, the previous owner was a mortgage broker who redid the kitchen,” Rader says. “The original design had an area where servants would cook for the owners.”

The 5,190-square-foot, six-bedroom, five-bath antique is situated on a double lot.

An open floor plan offers two distinct spaces that could be used as private guest quarters or an in-law suite.

The interior is rife with period details, including turret rooms, plus original hardwood floors, woodwork, and stained glass.

The enormous living area features coffered ceilings, a floor-to-ceiling fireplace, and double doors that open to a wraparound porch.

The dining room has a built-in bar and oak floors with mahogany inlay.

The kitchen has been modernized over the years and features stainless steel appliances.

A two-car garage is topped with a bonus studio, outfitted with a kitchenette, laundry, and bathroom.

“There are lots of opportunities that could be explored,” Rader says of the property’s potential. “We have had interest from someone looking to turn it into a bed-and-breakfast. It would be perfect for that. The home is ideally located minutes to downtown. It is near lots of great restaurants and shops along MLK Boulevard, as well.”

Rader believes the next buyer will be someone who loves and appreciates older homes.

“It would probably be used as a primary residence, because it would be a lot of home to maintain for a second home; and you wouldn’t want to leave an older home like that unattended for too long,” she says.
