Sean Rad, co-founder of the wildly successful dating app Tinder, has finally made a match for his sprawling Los Angeles mansion.

The tech entrepreneur’s enormous home in the Hollywood Hills has sold for $24 million, but not before a good few homebuyers chose to “swipe left” on the impressive estate.

It could well be that many were put off by its original list price of $32 million, which was slapped on the home when Rad and his wife, Lizzie Grover Rad, first listed it last summer.

Months later, in January 2024, Rad—perhaps spurred by the apparent lack of interest in the five-bedroom, nine-bathroom home—slashed the price to $28.4 million.

But even that sum was too great to achieve, and the home has now been sold eight months later for the exact same price he and his wife purchased it for in 2018.

Those with deep pockets might argue that the buyer scored something of a deal with the purchase of the property, which has been featured on the cover of Architectural Digest and boasts near-flawless design features.

No expense was spared in the making of this mansion, which starts with the 200-year-old cobblestones in the grand motor court—they were salvaged from actual historic roads in Boston.

An open floor plan reveals double-height ceilings and glass doors that open to showcase the outdoor spaces, complete with a pool, spa, lush lawn, and covered patio. Privacy hedges protect the yard, which also boasts a large seating area and fireplace.

Hard-to-source marble is the theme in both the kitchen and primary suite’s bathroom. The cook space boasts 20 slabs, run through with veins of gold and bronze, that make up the gorgeous island and range, which has floating Pitt burners on top.

The main bath is entirely encased in even more of the stone (40 pieces), but this time it’s an extremely rare kind from Italy known as Calacatta Breccia Capraia.

The marble was used in the country’s churches for centuries—and now it clads this home’s loo. The tub alone was carved from a single hunk, and the steam shower’s seat was made from it.

Of course, one can’t forget about the wine cellar.

Other standout amenities include a home office paneled in reclaimed French oak, home theater, wine cellar, home gym, rec room, and library.

Special touches abound, from the antique latches, door handles, and fixtures to the “tonal Venetian plaster technique adding depth and richness to the walls with 10 layers of paint.”

But the most impressive detail just might be the design and craftsmanship of the home bar.

Per the listing, “engineering feats include horizontal and vertical automated pocketing doors, and handmade swings/screws to support the 4,000 lb. doors in the secret speakeasy bar.”

Rad started Tinder in 2012, and just two years later, users were swiping left and right up to a billion times a day. Rad left the company in 2017, but not before it made him a billionaire.

Today, the biz bro is a founding board member of Good Today, a nonprofit organization that helps people donate small amounts, as little as a quarter, to charities.
