“Our company, The Retreat by Oakstone, started developing tiny-home communities in 2019, and the demand has been staggering,” Hayes says. “This property is a concept I came up with years ago, based on some of my best childhood vacations.”

The goal? To create an ideal vacation spot for his own children.

“The beauty of the time we spend with one another involves hiking, fishing, and sitting by the bonfire roasting marshmallows,” Hayes says. “It’s refreshing to take a trip together and not have the kids asking for iPads or phones.”

Nature-inspired design

The home‘s design was inspired by the natural setting of the adjacent 95-acre lake.

The little dwelling has been outfitted in poplar-bark siding, cedar-shake shingle, and oak-hardwood flooring. Despite having just a primary bedroom, the one-bathroom cottage can comfortably sleep six, thanks to two bunk beds and loft space for guests.

And you’ll certainly sleep well.

“The lake does not allow for any gas boats, making it very peaceful and scenic,” Hayes says. “The home is stunning and has all the amenities you would ever need, but the focus is less on its size and more on the experience.”

Those amenities comprise state-of-the-art appliances (including a washer and dryer), quartz counters in the kitchen, a Mitsubishi ductless mini-split heating and cooling system, and a tankless water heater.

Best of all, the high-end, petite property comes fully furnished.

And the nearly half-acre lot offers expansive deck space, access to the community dock, and a recessed fire pit that can comfortably seat up to 15 people.
