Philadelphia Eagles star A.J. Brown could be heading to new pastures for the 2026 NFL season, amid furious rumors that he will be traded to the New England Patriots within a matter of days—potentially bringing an end to months of speculation about his future with the team.

Brown, 28, has served as the starting wide receiver for the Eagles since 2022, when he was traded to the team by the Tennessee Titans in a highly controversial move.

At around the same time, the football pro—who has two children, including one with longtime partner Kelsey Riley—snapped up a new family home in New Jersey, around a 20-minute drive across the Delaware River from the Eagles' stadium in Philadelphia.

Property records show that Brown and his partner purchased the newly built abode for around $3.5 million in July 2022, less than three months after his trade to the Eagles was confirmed.

The dwelling is located at the end of a leafy cul-de-sac in Haddonfield, which has been home to many Eagles players and coaches over the years, including former quarterback Nick Foles and head coach Nick Sirianni.

However, while Brown has enjoyed a relatively painless commute to the Eagles stadium from his Haddonfield home, it's likely that he wouldn't be able to remain in the residence full time should his trade to the New England side be confirmed.

Luckily, he stands to make quite the tidy profit should he decide to sell his New Jersey abode, which was built in 2022 and is now worth more than $4 million, according to Realtor.com® estimates.

Rumors first began to emerge in April that discussions were taking place between the Eagles and the Patriots—with ESPN's senior NFL insider Adam Schefter claiming at the time that a deal was on track to take place "on or after June 1," with the reporter noting that this date would allow the Eagles to spread Brown's $40 million cap over the 2026 and 2027 seasons.

"No matter what happens at this week's draft, an A.J. Brown trade to the Patriots is still on the table and still tracking to happen on or after June 1, per league sources," Schefter reported on April 20.

"The two sides have discussed a deal, but neither has been willing to commit to it until after June 1, when Brown's $40 million salary cap charge would be split between this year and next."

Should Brown head to the Patriots, he would reunite with head coach Mike Vrabel—who led the Titans for the entirety of the receiver's time with the team, before moving on to the Cleveland Browns in 2024. He moved to the Patriots for the 2025 season.

However, it would no doubt be a very bittersweet move for Brown, who previously opened up to SJ Mag Media about how "happy" he was living in South Jersey, where he admitted he enjoyed a very "quiet" life with his partner and his two children—daughter Jersee, whom he shares with a former partner, and son A.J. Jr., whom he shares with Riley.

"I’m a happy, happy man," he said. "My kids, I love being with my family. Jersey gives me privacy and a lot of space, and I love that. I’m a quiet guy. When I’m not here, I’m home and I’m watching movies and changing diapers and playing with my kids.

"I’m a big family guy. I love it all. South Jersey is right for me. It’s a beautiful area and the people are nice, and they sure do love the Eagles. We’re winning football games. I love this organization and the way we’re treated, the vibe we have here."

Brown noted that, as a father to two young children, he didn't have time to do much else beyond playing, practicing, and hanging with his kids.

The wide receiver, who began his professional sporting career in Major League Baseball, when he was drafted by the San Diego Padres in 2016, has yet to comment on the rumors surrounding his future in the NFL—however, Sports Illustrated's senior NFL reporter, Albert Breer, noted on Monday that it would be a "pretty big upset" if the deal between the Eagles and the Patriots fell through at this point.

Should he end up with the Patriots, Brown will likely serve as the team's starting wide receiver, filling the gap left by Stefon Diggs, who was released by the team in March. He will join the likes of quarterback Drake Maye and cornerback Christian Gonzalez on the roster of players for the 2026 season.

"A.J. can still play. He would give the Patriots a legit, bona fide No. 1 wide receiver and a person in that room who can be a leader," former Titans general manager Ran Carthon said of the potential trade during a recent appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio.

"Having the experience of playing under [Vrabel], he can also be a good purveyor of the message and teaching everyone else in the room what he is looking for."

Still, Brown remains fully committed to the Eagles—and the wider Philadelphia area—for now, even hosting a youth camp for budding players in Allentown, PA, less than a month before his trade is reportedly due to be confirmed.

Speaking to the attendees at the event, the football pro seemed to hint at the amount of speculation swirling about his career, urging the young players to ignore any rumors they might hear and remember that he remains fully committed to Eagles fans.

"I love you all. I don't care what you hear out there. I love you all. You understand?" he told them when the camp wrapped up.
