Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo has been traded to Miami Heat—just one day after reports revealed the basketball icon was in "serious talks" with both the Heat and the Boston Celtics.

The 31-year-old forward was traded to the Florida-based team, along with Bobby Portis. In return, the Bucks will get Tyler HerroKel'el WareJaime Jaquez Jr.Kasparas Jakucionis, three first-round picks, one pick swap and one second-rounder, as first reported by ESPN.

Just one day before news of the trade was announced, Antetokounmpo found himself at the center of mounting speculation about his future in the NBA.

Sources had told ESPN that the he would be bidding farewell to Wisconsin, with discussions surrounding his future reportedly gaining steam ahead of the NBA Draft on June 23 and June 24.

According to the outlet, Antetokounmpo was in serious talks with both the Boston and Miami-based teams, and it was reported that he was likely to be traded before the draft event began.

The Boston Celtics reportedly proposed swapping five-time All-Star Jaylen Brown for Antetokounmpo, while the Miami Heat is said to have offered cost-controlled contracts.

Trade rumors surrounding Antetokounmpo have intensified over the past year as the superstar reportedly became disillusioned with Milwaukee's trajectory.

ESPN reported that after trade-deadline discussions failed to resolve concerns, the relationship further deteriorated when Antetokounmpo raised questions about the team's decision to sideline him late in the season due to a knee injury.

His move to the Heat marks a significant milestone in his NBA career—which began with the Bucks in 2013—and has raised many questions about his future in the sport, debate that extends beyond his performance on the court.

Among the questions raised by the trade chatter is what might become of the sprawling Milwaukee home he has owned during his rise to NBA superstardom.

The star athlete purchased the 7.5-bathroom abode in 2018 for $1.8 million.

In addition to its many bathrooms, the home comes complete with six bedrooms, which are spread across 9,900 square feet of living space.

The home, which was built in 2005, also features a four-car garage.

Now that Antetokounmpo will ultimately land in Miami, it remains to be seen whether he'll hold on to the property that has long served as his home base—or decide it's time for a fresh start off the court as well.

Just months before trade rumors began, the basketball pro began making some impressive real estate moves beyond Wisconsin.

In January, he purchased multiple commercial properties in Chicago for $21 million, including a newly acquired apartment building, which he is understood to have bought via his family office, Ante.

It marked the fifth in a line of commercial property acquisitions made by Antetokounmpo in recent months—which also include adjacent building in Brooklyn, NY, and two others in Wisconsin.

The latest property purchase—which is known as Harmony Apartments—boasts 56 units and was completed in 2024. As first reported by CoStar, it is located around a two hours' drive from Fiserv Forum, where the Bucks host their home games.

Property records show that a one-bedroom, one-bathroom unit was rented for $2,325 per month in September 2025, while another, slightly smaller, one-bed was leased for $2,195 in August.

The building is of a similar size to others purchased by Antetokounmpo—and was snapped up by the NBA pro less than two months after he closed on a $25 million deal to buy a pair of buildings in the Prospect Lefforts Garden neighborhood of Brooklyn.

Known as The Lawrence, the two buildings have a combined total of 50 units that are spread across eight floors and include studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments.

Prior to that, he spent a respective $11.75 million and $11.6 million on two Wisconsin buildings, the pricier of which is located in Shorewood and features 39 units. The other, in Madison, features 41 units.

In total, Antetokounmpo has spent a staggering $70 million on multifamily properties since October 2025.

It is currently unclear whether he has any plans to add any other properties to the collection.

However, that hefty sum makes up less than half of the $175.4 million three-year contract extension Antetokounmpo signed through the 2026-2027 season.

According to ESPN, the terms of the contract mean he will be eligible to sign a four-year "supermax extension" worth $275 million on Oct. 1.
