A lavish downtown Asheville apartment with ties to HGTV has made history after selling for $3.15 million, setting a new record for the priciest condo sale in the North Carolina city.

The two-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom residence, located at 75 Broadway St., had initially been listed for $3.75 million in February 2025—however it underwent a hefty $255,000 price cut in March of this year that brought the ask down to $3.49 million.

Though it fell short of that goal, the $3.15 million it did manage to pull in still cements its place in the local history books, becoming the most expensive condo to ever change hands in Asheville.

The record-breaking deal marks yet another accolade for the remarkable residence, which was previously crowned the winner of HGTV's 2021 "Ultimate House Hunt" in the "Downtown Dwellings" category.

More than 1.5 million votes were cast across the nationwide competition, with the Asheville property triumphing over residences in much larger cities, including Seattle, Dallas, and Chicago.

The condo went on to sell for $2.85 million in November 2021, meaning its latest $3.15 million deal represents a $300,000 increase in value in less than five years.

It had previously changed hands for $1.7 million in 2014.

Spanning an impressive 4,365 square feet, the single-level home occupies the top floor of a historic downtown building that dates back to 1915 and offers an intriguing combination of old-world character and contemporary luxury.

Its interiors were designed by New York-based George Studio, Inc., with no shortage of lavish touches incorporated throughout.

Wide-plank flooring imported from France runs through the residence, while Venetian plaster walls, exposed wooden beams, brick accents, marble bathrooms, and modern lighting lend plenty of drama to the sprawling space.

Perhaps the most striking room is the soaring great room, where a floor-to-ceiling library wall serves as a dramatic focal point amid exposed beams and brickwork.

The living area flows seamlessly into a sleek chef's kitchen, which features stainless-steel finishes and an enormous center island that provides ample space for both meal preparation and entertaining.

Elsewhere, the property boasts two primary suites, each complete with a spa-like bathroom, while a bright day room provides sweeping year-round views of both downtown Asheville and the surrounding mountains.

However, some of the home's most enviable perks can be found downstairs.

Despite its location in the heart of downtown, the condo comes with a climate-controlled garage that can accommodate four vehicles, as well as two sizable storage rooms.

A secure private elevator whisks residents directly from the garage into the condo, allowing for true single-level living and an added level of privacy.

Its central location also places the property amid the heart of Asheville's bustling downtown district.

The property ultimately went on to win its category—and five years later, it has added yet another distinction to its résumé with its historic multimillion-dollar sale.
