Two bungalows in the picturesque village of Siasconset on Nantucket have hit the market for a combined $2,495,000.

Siasconset, known by locals as "Sconset," is a town of around 500 people on the southeastern tip of the island. Located about 30 miles off the coast from Cape Cod, MA, Nantucket is a coveted summer getaway spot.

Dubbed the "Whaling Capital of the World" in the 19th century, Nantucket these days is more of a laid-back vacation spot popular with both New England's most affluent families and influencers alike. The median listing price for the island hovers at around $4.4 million.

The property's two buildings, named Telegraph House and Right Bank, are nearly mirror images of each other, and were built in 1924 and 1927, respectively.

Over time they've served as a Western Union telegraph office, tearoom, yarn shop, souvenir shop, and record store.

Lara Hanson, a broker with Fisher Real Estate, is an eighth-generation islander. She says the community is "a highly coveted place to be," commanding high rental fees during the summer months. The two one-bedroom homes offer the right buyer an island getaway and/or a lucrative business opportunity.

The bungalows fetch between $3,000 and $4,000 a week, and "the rental income can certainly defray the operating expenses," she says. (That's as long as you abide by Nantucket's short-term rental rules.)

"Sconset," says Hanson, is "a mixture of historic structures and seaside cottages, with close proximity to the beach. There's a handful of great restaurants in that neighborhood as well as a market that's open in the summertime."

Most importantly, the two homes are only 200 yards or so from the beach.

Sconset is located about 7 miles from the town of Nantucket, and you can walk, bike, or take public transportation around the island.

Each bungalow is approximately  384 square feet with its own kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom. The Right Bank property also comes with a small loft space that can be used for storage or a second small sleeping area.

Sconset is primarily a spring-summer community, but for those who want to try wintering there, the properties come with mini-splits, which offer heating and air conditoning. Hanson suggests that to truly winterize the property, it would be prudent to encapsulate the foundations.
