A one-of-a-kind "contemporary glass palace" in Maryland that boasts its own "party kitchen" has managed to snag a buyer mere days after it was put on the market for $1.99 million.

The 1980s-era abode, which features an array of unique amenities in addition to its eye-catching design, spreads across 8,000 square feet in Potomac, MD.

Thanks to the walls of glass, which are found inside and out, the property is a light-filled sanctuary made all the more staggering by its open floor plan, which offers a sun-soaked interior that makes the dwelling look all the more expansive.

The drama begins from the moment you approach the home, which has a largely white-and-glass exterior accented by a bold red tower that soars up through its center.

That imposing presence continues inside the two-story entry, which is accented with glass block walls and a sculptural floating spiral staircase.

It is, for all intents and purposes, a living work of art, one that has, for many years, been used to showcase an equally impressive collection.

“The sellers are art collectors and bought the home to showcase their art,” said listing agent Harriet Kline of Long & Foster Real Estate. “It’s a very cool home and has an attached apartment with a large deck that attaches the home to the apartment.”

Built in 1985, the six-bedroom estate also has an energy-efficient design for sustainable living.

That, coupled with the unique appearance of the property, helped the dwelling to lure in a buyer within days of its listing going live.

“It’s already under contract,” Kline said. “All of the people who were looking at the home were looking for something different from the average build. They loved the open floor plan and were wanting to use it as a primary residence.”

Other highlights include butcher block hardwood floors found on the first floor and custom lighting, ideal for art collectors.

“The sellers also put in an elevator for easy access from the main level to the second floor,” she said.

A cozy living room with wood-burning fireplace offers peaceful views of the wooded lot from its floor-to-ceiling windows.

One of the most impressive features is the loft-style dining room custom made for grand-scale entertaining that seems to float above the entrance surrounded by glass on two sides with access to the expansive outdoor deck.

“There is also a glass skylight that goes almost the whole length of the house,” Kline noted. “It’s a very unique home and extremely well built.”

The sleek main kitchen has curved cabinetry with stone countertops and an oversized breakfast bar.

“The home was custom designed for entertaining and has three kitchens: one in the apartment, one in the lower level for entertaining, and the main kitchen,” she added.

A Wendy's-style glass sunroom ideal for dining and soaking in the views overlooks an enormous deck.

“It is located on a little more than 1 acre, which is also very appealing,” Kline said.

Also found on the 1.3-acre private lot is a three-car garage with full apartment located above that would be ideal for extended family and guests.

“The one-bedroom apartment has 1,000 square feet of space and has a fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen that four people can easily dine in, oversized windows, and two balconies,” she said.

There is also approximately 13,000 square feet of outdoor decking ideal for entertaining and relaxing found between the main home and guest accommodations.

“What makes this home unique is that you can get to Washington, DC, and Bethesda very easily, and it’s close to a lot of hiking and biking trails, and nearby Potomac Village and the Clara Barton Parkway," Kline noted. "It’s nestled between all that and is truly a one-of-a-kind home.”
