Alec and Hilaria Baldwin have put their expansive Hamptons mansion back on the market for a fourth time, mere months after revealing their desire to own the home forever, admitting that their kids went "crazy" over the idea of parting ways with the property.

The couple, who also own a palatial apartment in New York City, listed the five-bedroom Amagansett, NY, dwelling on Dec. 3 with an asking price of $21 million—a sizable increase from the last asking price of $18.99 but a hefty decrease from the $29 million that it was first listed for in 2022.

Their decision to list the home again marks the latest twist in what has been a roller coaster real estate ride for the property, which Alec, 67, purchased for just $1.75 million in 1995.

In 2021, Alec and Hilaria, 41, revealed plans to renovate the beach getaway, where they have long spent summers and holidays with their growing brood of children.

However, they ditched those plans in September 2022 when they put the home on the market for $29 million—only to lower the price to $24.9 million just four months later.

Over the following two years, the property bounced on and off the market, listing for the last time at the much lower price in January 2024, shortly before they actually accepted an offer on the property—only to U-turn on their decision to sell.

In August, the couple opened the doors to the property in a wide-ranging interview with The New York Times, telling the outlet that they had initially listed the home because they felt they no longer needed it, explaining that they had visions of splitting their time between their New York property and their 55-acre estate in Vermont, while spending summers in Europe.

But, they admitted, they found it next to impossible to "quit" the home, particularly because it had become a place their children loved so much.

"We keep coming back here because the kids are very happy," Alec said. "They love it here. When I go up to the kids and go, ‘Want to sell the house?’, they go crazy.

"It’s a kid’s home that I never want to leave."

Now, just three months on, the couple appears to have pivoted again, listing the 8.28-acre estate with Scott Bradley, of Saunders & Associates.

Yet they could be facing yet another rocky ride on their path to finding a buyer, with experts previously telling Realtor.com® that the dwelling, though described as an "unparalleled vision of elegant estate living" in its listing, comes with a number of "challenges."

The first, according to Jenny Lenz, managing director of Dolly Lenz Real Estate, is its location, which she said was "not considered prime for most buyers."

"While Amagansett is trendy and idyllic, this property is north of the highway and off the beaten path, yet it's priced as if it's on a prime street in East Hampton or Southampton," Lenz explained in July 2024, when the home was still listed for just under $19 million.

The real estate agent—who was familiar with the Baldwin property—added that the home itself would likely be viewed by many buyers as a fixer-upper because it requires a number of updates.

"The house is quite dated for the current market," she said. "Buyers in this area are looking for more modern styles and either new construction or recently renovated homes."

Lastly, there was the "ick" factor that Lenz said comes from the home's association with a celebrity couple who are as polarizing as Alec and Hilaria—the former of whom even featured in a promotional video in January 2024 in which he attempted to personally lure a buyer for the dwelling.

The home's first appearance on the market in 2022 came just a few months after Alec was involved in a deadly October 2021 shooting on the set of his movie, "Rust," in which cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was killed after a live round was fired from a gun that the actor was using as a prop.

Alec was initially charged with involuntary manslaughter in January 2023, along with armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, and while prosecutors ultimately dismissed all charges against him, the stigma surrounding the actor—and his home—remained, according to Lenz.

"The celebrity connection is likely a drawback for most buyers in this case," Lenz said in July 2024. "Typically, a property associated with an A-list star would command a premium. However, given the negative publicity surrounding [him] ... [his] connection and active participation in marketing the home is probably a detriment and clients have suggested it has an 'ick' factor."

Hilaria has also had her fair share of negative publicity in recent months after she was revealed as one of several celebrities who competed in the latest season of "Dancing With the Stars."

The mother of seven was the fourth contestant to be eliminated, despite achieving consistently high scores from the judges, and later said during an Instagram Live that she had been "bullied off the show."

She later clarified her comments during an appearance on the podcast "Too Much," telling host Emma Paige Klipstein that she felt some viewers had taken part in a targeted campaign to have her removed from the show.

"They're gonna vote for all the couples besides me, or besides X person. So that suppresses your fan vote," she said, claiming that she had seen videos on TikTok in which users encouraged others to take part in this so-called plot.

"And I don't care. I'll be the person who's crying in front of the world because I'm gonna show my humanity. Some people are gonna like that and some people are gonna make fun of me more for that," she added.

It remains to be seen whether the fourth time will be the charm for the couple when it comes to selling their Hamptons home, which they appear to have been planning to renovate yet again—with the listing stating that the dwelling comes complete with "architectural plans for expansion."

That extension, the description notes, would see the home outfitted with two additional bedrooms, as well as a "formal dining room, sunroom, and large screened-in porch."

"Additionally, the SCHD has approved an upgraded septic for up to 10 bedrooms," it goes on. "Moreover, the opportunity to build a new, equally impressive guest house in Amagansett is unheard of in the Hamptons."

The listing does not reveal whether any recent updates have been made to the property, simply describing it as a prime example of "luxury living," with outdoor amenities that shine as the true star of the listing.

"This amazing property offers endless reserve views, horseback riding, a vegetable garden, all modern luxury amenities, and is adjacent to Balsam Farm and the magnificent Amagansett trail system," it states.

"Private access to nature and equestrian adventures, plus world-famous ocean beaches and Village living, make this the ultimate dream home for relaxation and rejuvenation in the Hamptons for generations."
