In Pacific Palisades, CA, it's not uncommon to come across a dwelling that boasts an impressive Hollywood history—yet even among all that star power, one property still manages to stand out: a newly transformed mansion that was built on the foundation of a home once owned by comedian Dom DeLuise.

Named Chateau Corsica, the recently completed abode sits on a lot that was previously occupied by DeLuise's modest 1950s ranch-style home, which the actor, who was a longtime collaborator of Hollywood legend Mel Brooks, purchased in 1968 for just $103,000.

Yet there is nothing modest about this manse—or its $21 million price tag.

"Mediterranean charm meets refined European elegance in this brand-new construction," the listing crows, before calling attention to the property's "artisanal craftsmanship and understated luxury."

Now spanning over 10,000 square feet of living space, the property at 1186 Corsica Drive boasts six bedrooms, seven full bathrooms, and two powder rooms, all nestled within three stories that include an elevator, a three-car garage, and over-the-top amenities worthy of its impressive celebrity pedigree.

A distinct sense of world-class craftsmanship can also be found on the inside of the home with its white oak floors, bespoke millwork, hand-carved moldings, and marble surfaces reminiscent of French ateliers.

The chef’s kitchen, with a hidden butler’s pantry and classic checkered flooring, flows into the formal living and dining rooms as well as the family room, which opens to the outdoors.

Unique entertainment spaces are also abundant inside the abode and include a "moody" speakeasy-style bar, a 1,657-bottle wine cellar, and a state-of-the-art home theater.

A gym, sauna, and private massage room round out the property’s impressive offerings.

The home's allure does not end with the many amenities it features—with the distinctive design, which was masterminded by developer Provincetown Estates, also helping it to stand out from the crowd.

“The estate draws on classic European inspiration combined with modern craftsmanship and fire-rated materials for durability,” says listing agent Anthony Marguleas. “The facade blends natural stone with Acre siding for both beauty and resilience.”

That resilience also includes protection against fire, with the siding given a Class B rating, meaning that it has been proven to significantly reduce the risk of wildfire damage—while also guarding against water, pests, and rot, all the while giving the property an incredibly elegant air.

Wildfires are undoubtedly going to be a major consideration for any prospective homebuyers looking for a new property in Pacific Palisades, which was ravaged by the January 2025 California blazes that claimed the lives of at least 31 people.

The Palisades was one of the worst-affected areas, with reports revealing that the fires destroyed close to 7,000 homes there, while tearing through more than 23,000 acres of land.

However, many locals have insisted that they will rebuild their community—even as multiple residents opt to sell their land, rather than go through the arduous and costly process of trying to construct a new home.

Although Chateau Corsica was not one of the homes impacted by the fires, the property serves as a shining example of the kinds of modern mansions that could help to bring the Palisades into its next chapter.

Certainly the dwelling brings to life all that locals love about the area—particularly when it comes to the beauty of its natural surroundings.

The backyard is dotted with heritage olive trees, vintage ceramic urns, and lush Mediterranean-inspired gardens, creating a serene sanctuary from the outside world.

“The backyard is a true resort retreat with a shimmering pool and spa, checkered stone waterline tiles, a sculptural firepit, and an outdoor kitchen with an Alfresco pizza oven,” says Marguleas.

Marguleas emphasizes that Chateau Corsica is more than a residence—it’s a legacy property, infused with Hollywood provenance and architectural gravitas.

“The heritage, paired with its location on a prominent Riviera corner lot, makes it more than a residence. This blend of craftsmanship, provenance, and location, rarely comes along," he adds.
