A Dallas-area mansion makes history as the most expensive public sale in Texas this year, according to the Dallas Business Journal.

The home, located in University Park—a suburb north of downtown Dallas—was listed for $35 million on Oct. 31. After two months, the Journal reports the home at 6601 Hunters Glen Road sold for $30.5 million, making it the largest Texas home sale of the year.

The home was built in 1927 and has had several owners. Public records show the home was last sold in January 2021 for an undisclosed price, but was listed for $22,500,000. Before that it was bought by another owner in March 2013, also for an undisclosed price after being listed for $19,500,000.

Before this most expensive sale, the priciest home sold in the Lone Star State was the recent sale of 4000 Euclid Avenue in Highland Park. It sold for $25.5 million, according to WFAA. That home has nearly 19,000 square feet of living space, six bedrooms, 7.5 baths, a five-car garage, and it's set on more than an acre.

Luxury lifestyle

The University Park home's new owner will revel in nearly 13,000 square feet with five bedrooms, 6 full bathroom and three half-baths on nearly 2 acres.

Though the home was built in 1927, it's gone through major renovations and remodeling and has numerous high-end features including commercial grade range, built-in refrigerator, warming drawer, decorative lighting, central air, nine fireplaces, and flat screen wiring.

That's just inside. Outside it's an entertainer's dream. Aside from the grill, there's a firepit, tennis courts, gazebo, guesthouse, screened porch, pool, cabana, tennis courts, and a three-car garage.

Million-dollar listings

The Dallas area recently came in near the top of a Realtor.com® list of cities with the most million-dollar listings. Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington landed at No. 5 with over 2,700 million-dollar listings in November 2025. The median list price in that metro is $420,000, with the median income at $88,783.

Homes listed for $1 million or more are no surprise as the real estate market is overflowing with listings. Inventory jumped for the 25th straight month. There are more than 1 million homes for sale, and at least 10% of those properties are selling for $1 million or more, according to Realtor.com data.

The New York City metro tops the list with the most homes listed at $1 million and above. The area offers easy access to trains, buses, major highways, and many communities have walkable downtowns with shopping and restaurants.
