Meghan Markle’s Netflix House: Inside Stunning $8 Million Abode Where Duchess Taped New Series ‘With Love, Meghan’
Meghan Markle has debuted the new trailer for her upcoming Netflix series, “With Love, Meghan,” revealing that the lifestyle-focused show will premiere Jan. 15 and offer viewers an opportunity to “feel at home” with the Duchess of Sussex.
The only irony there? The series wasn’t actually shot at her home.
Rather than using her and husband Prince Harry‘s sprawling $14.65 million Montecito, CA, mansion as a backdrop for the series, Meghan, 43, instead opted to use an $8 million farmhouse that’s just a few miles down the road.
The four-bedroom, 4.5-bathroom property is owned by local philanthropists Tom and Sherrie Cipolla, who purchased the dwelling for $4.7 million back in 2017, according to records. Realtor.com® estimates reveal that it is now worth upward of $8 million.
Nestled on a 5-acre plot of land, the main farmhouse boasts a chic and elegant decor worthy of a Nancy Meyers movie—or a Meghan Markle docuseries—and features an open floor plan and ample windows that flood the home with plenty of light.
An additional barn on the property provides another filming location, while the picturesque grounds—which are filled with lemon and avocado trees—served as a picture-perfect backdrop for Meghan’s latest project.
In the trailer for the show, the mother of two can be seen whipping up a variety of treats in the kitchen, oftentimes with the help of her celebrities guests, including Mindy Kaling, Abigail Spencer, Roy Choi, and, of course, Prince Harry.
“Meghan shares personal tips and tricks, embracing playfulness over perfection and highlights how easy it can be to create beauty, even in the unexpected. She and her guests roll up their sleeves in the kitchen, the garden, and beyond, and invite you to do the same,” a Netflix press release said of the show, according to People.
Much of the trailer centers around the kitchen space in which Meghan cooks up a cake, a fish dish, ice cream, an omelette, and many more delicacies. However, she can also be seen venturing around the grounds of the Montecito property and even stepping outside of the home, heading to a local flower market and a beehive, where she learns to harvest honey.
“I’ve always loved taking something pretty ordinary and elevating it, surprising people with moments that let them know I was really thinking of them,” Meghan says in the trailer.
“I’m going to share some little tips and tricks. And how you can incorporate these practices every day. This is about connecting with friends, making new friends, and just learning. We’re not in the pursuit of perfection, we’re in the pursuit of joy. Love is in the details.”
Despite not filming in her own lavish mansion, Meghan did make sure that she felt as at home as possible in the Cipollas’ abode, even bringing along her dog, Guy, for much of the shoot—with the rescue pooch seen happily snoring away in his dog bed as she continued cooking.
“I have been so excited to share this with you! I hope you love the show as much as I loved making it,” Meghan wrote while sharing the trailer on her newly established Instagram account. “Wishing you all a fantastic new year! Thanks to our amazing crew and the team @netflix. Beyond grateful for the support – and fun!
“As ever, Meghan.”
It is not the first time that Meghan has borrowed another home in order to film an “at-home” style Netflix show. When she and Harry filmed their controversial 2022 documentary, aptly-titled “Meghan & Harry,” the couple did so in a $30 million estate not far from their own house.
That property—which boasts six bedrooms, 6.5 bathroom, and a 2-acre plot—is currently on the market, having been used by the Sussexes only briefly while they were filming their interviews for the dramatic series.
Harry and Meghan have attempted to keep their private life inside their Montecito abode as private as possible, sharing just a few scant glimpses inside the walls of the home—and even then only sharing images or videos from a few select rooms.
In December, when the couple released their public Christmas card, they shared a sneak peek inside the grounds of the property in an image featuring themselves and their children, Archie and Lilibet, who could be seen running along a path toward their parents in the expansive garden.
In the background of the image, the lush gardens of Harry and Meghan’s sprawling property provide the perfect setting for the sweet family moment.
The photo’s location is all the more meaningful given the significance of the property’s gardens in the couple’s lives. In 2022, Meghan revealed in an interview with The Cut that the grounds were actually the reason she and Harry decided to buy the nine-bedroom, 16-bathroom estate in the first place.
“One of the first things my husband saw when we walked around the house was those two palm trees,” she shared. “We did everything we could to get this house.”
Harry and Meghan bought the home in 2020, having relocated from the U.K. back to the former “Suits” star’s home country in March 2020, two months after announcing their decision to “step back as senior members” of the royal family.
Although Harry and Meghan have gone to great lengths to keep the interiors of their home private, they have shared a few small glimpses inside the property over the years—including images and clips that were aired as part of “Harry & Meghan.”
At one point, Meghan could be seen posing for a photo in the nursery, while another shot showed Harry in an office, taking calls on his laptop.
That desire for privacy has proven something of a sticking point with at least one of their Montecito neighbors, however, who spoke out recently to criticize the duo for failing to get actively involved in the community.
Speaking in a German documentary entitled “Harry: The Lost Prince,” Richard Mineards, one of the couple’s neighbors, issued a scathing assessment of Meghan, claiming that she has not been an “asset” to their neighborhood.
“I personally don’t think that Meghan is an asset to our community,” he said. “She doesn’t really go out or get involved with the community.”
