During a keynote address at Money20/20 in Las Vegas, Venmo announced an exciting new partnership with Bilt.

For the first time, Bilt members will be able to pay their rent or mortgage using Venmo directly within the Bilt app, in addition to the platform’s existing payment options.

The collaboration will enable renters and homeowners alike to make their monthly payments “in just a few taps,” while also earning Bilt Rewards points, which can be used on a wide variety of “Neighborhood Perks,” in the process.

"Our partnership with Bilt marks a pivotal first step in our journey to bring everyday commerce directly into the Venmo experience," Diego Scotti, general manager of the consumer group at Venmo owner PayPal, said in the official release.

“Millions of people already use Venmo to split rent with roommates and pay their landlords, now we're making that experience even more seamless and rewarding. We're thrilled to partner with a company that shares our relentless focus on innovation and the customer. Together, we're redefining what's possible when social payments meet everyday life."

“I think this is one of the biggest, most exciting partnerships we’ve done to date,” Ankur Jain, founder and CEO of Bilt, said in an interview with Realtor.com® ahead of the announcement. “It’s very rare to find a partner whose customer base is so uniquely aligned and that shares our passion for lifestyle commerce.”

How the collaboration will work

Launching officially in 2026, Bilt’s 5 million-plus members across the country will have the option to use Venmo’s payment capabilities to make rent and mortgage payments.

Through the partnership, Venmo users will be able to earn Bilt Rewards points that can be redeemed for travel, dining, and purchases at local businesses. Meanwhile, Bilt users will gain the ability to split housing costs with roommates or co-owners seamlessly, while also maintaining an itemized payment record for reference.

“I cannot think of a more seamless and magical customer experience out there,” Jain added. “It should be easy to connect your roommates, your community, your neighborhood, and your housing all together.”

The partnership also broadens Venmo’s reach, extending its payment capabilities to Bilt’s network of more than 45,000 merchants. From local restaurants and retailers to gyms, pharmacies, and other neighborhood businesses, Bilt partners will soon be able to accept Venmo, giving consumers greater choice and flexibility in how they pay, while helping merchants tap into Venmo’s community of nearly 100 million active users.

Beyond the convenience of in-app payments and rewards, one standout benefit for renters is the ability to build credit history through the arrangement—a crucial step toward future homeownership.

“Customers can now build their credit history even when they pay with Venmo,” Jain said. “Then they can split it with their roommate, order groceries, split that too—everything connected in a very simple way.”

The announcement follows Bilt’s recent collaboration with United Wholesale Mortgage (UWM), the nation’s largest mortgage lender. Also starting in early 2026, UWM mortgage customers—both new and existing—will be able to earn Bilt points for each on-time mortgage payment. UWM becomes the first mortgage platform to let its borrowers earn rewards with the platform.
