Vermont Ski Retreat That Once Hosted John F. Kennedy and His Family Is Listed for $5 Million After Stunning Restoration
A Vermont inn steeped in local—and national—history has hit the market for $4.95 million, decades after it played host to John F. Kennedy and his family.
The iconic Inn at Turner Mill in Stowe is described as being one of the "oldest ski destinations in the U.S.," having been built in 1936.
Over the years, it has been frequented by all manner of celebrity guests who were drawn to its charming interiors and incredible proximity to the area's premier ski trails.
“This was lodging to the stars in the 1930s,” says listing agent George Bambara, of Pall Spera Co. “The Kennedys stayed here—John F. Kennedy came here as a child.”
Now, the iconic property is seeking a new steward who is ready to hone their hospitality skills, while also taking on a treasured piece of Vermont history and bringing it into a new era.

Luckily, much of the work has already been done by the sellers, who carried out an extensive restoration in 2020, placing "great emphasis on fit and finish." The result is an exceptionally elegant venue that blends old-world charm with modern luxury.
“From the wallboard in, everything is new,” Bambara explains.
The extensive upgrades include new kitchens, windows, exterior and interior doors, heating and electrical systems, as well as central air conditioning.
The renovation balanced contemporary finishes with vintage details. High-level stainless-steel appliances, granite countertops, and restored wood floors elevate the interiors while preserving the rustic charm of a classic Vermont inn.
The inn spans 6,760 square feet and includes 14 bedrooms and 12 baths. Multiple living rooms, dining areas, and kitchens are spread across several levels, offering flexibility for private use, hospitality operations, or a hybrid model.
The upper floors feature private suites, including two-bedroom units with a kitchen and bath—ideal for staff or extended-stay guests.
The location is one of the property’s most compelling features. The inn abuts Stowe Mountain Resort’s holdings, making it “as close as you can be to the resort without actually being on it,” according to Bambara.

"Ski home from the top of Stowe Mountain Resorts FourRunner Quad, down the Bruce Trail and walk across the street to Turner Mill. The property also has a stop on the Mountain Road Shuttle for easy access to Stowe Mountain Resort and Stowe Village," the listing states.
However, the property is just as alluring during the warmer months, according to Bambara.
The inn comes with 9 acres, which are close to hiking and biking trails and popular swimming holes.
A significant portion of the property’s value lies in its vast acreage, which includes mature trees and rolling lawns. It also offers potential for expansion.
“A big part of the value is the back 5-acre portion of the lot and what could potentially be done there,” Bambara notes.
While the seller is not subdividing the property, zoning bylaws allow future development.
For those drawn to Vermont’s ski culture and small-town charm, the Stowe Inn offers a rare opportunity to step into the role of its next steward.
