"Captain America" star Chris Evans has taken a $1.01 million hit on his palatial Los Angeles mansion, selling the property for $5.38 million as he bids farewell to California and makes his move to the East Coast.

The 45-year-old actor initially listed the dwelling for $6.99 million in May 2025. But after it lingered on the market, Evans delisted the home in November 2025.

Then, in June, the stunning property returned with a newly reduced asking price of $6.39 million, as well as an array of new images.

Just last week, it was revealed that Evans had found a buyer for his property. However, the home was still in the contingency phase, meaning an offer was accepted and the sale was dependent on certain conditions being met. At the time, it was unclear how much the offer was.

Now, Realtor.com® can exclusively reveal that Evans offloaded the dwelling for $5.38 million—a more than $1 million discount from his already reduced price.

Ahead of the relisting, Massachusetts native Evans, who has owned the home since 2013, when he purchased it for $3.52 million, opened up to Realtor.com about his decision to walk away from the dwelling, explaining that, while he loved living in L.A., the time had come for him to relocate back to the East Coast with his wife, Alba Baptista, and their daughter, Alma.

"The West Coast is beautiful, and I’ve spent more than a decade in this home enjoying Los Angeles," he said. "But I’ve decided to spend more time on the East Coast. It feels like the right moment to pass this beautiful property to the next owner."

Having been listed with Scott Moore of Christie's International Real Estate Southern California, the 1940s-era home has undergone several upgrades during Evans' ownership—and, according to the listing agent, it is the perfect property for someone who, like the Marvel star, values their privacy above all else.

"The likely buyer for this home is a highly private creative—think celebrity, founder, or high-profile all-cash purchaser seeking true seclusion without leaving Los Angeles," Moore said.

"Torreyson is one of the most exclusive cul-de-sacs in the Hollywood Hills, surrounded by historically significant architecture, including a neighboring Richard Neutra residence, with several notable figures calling the area home."

Though Evans has relished the "seclusion" that the home affords his family, there is one other feature that he is sure will help to lure in a buyer—just like it did for him: the "inspiring" views.

Speaking about his favorite part of the property, he said, "Hands down, the views.  From inside and outside the views from this home are stunning and inspiring."

Thanks to its plum hillside perch, the dwelling boasts sensational vistas from almost every room—however, they can also be enjoyed from any number of outdoor living areas, which are just one of the elements that help to set the home apart from other luxury listings in the Hills.

"What draws homeowners to this pocket is the rare balance of privacy, nature, and proximity," Moore explained. "Tour buses and through-traffic are virtually nonexistent here, creating a quiet enclave where residents can disconnect, take in sweeping canyon and city views, and experience a sense of emotional escape while remaining just minutes from the heart of Los Angeles.

"Beyond the pedigree and location, the real differentiator is the grounds themselves. The extensively engineered retaining wall and thoughtful landscaping transformed the property into a series of expansive outdoor living spaces designed for entertaining, decompressing, and fully embracing the indoor-outdoor lifestyle."

While the listing photos of the home were beautiful—capturing the easy flow between the indoor and outdoor spaces, as well as the jaw-dropping views over downtown Los Angeles, Moore said the dwelling is best experienced in person so that a prospective buyer can really appreciate its most unique features.

"It's difficult to appreciate the scale, energy, and atmosphere of the property without experiencing it in person," he noted.

That "energy" is carefully highlighted in the listing description, which notes that the outdoor areas of the home have an "almost enchanted" quality about them, with trees, hedges, and a gated entryway helping to create a kind of private oasis, even in the heart of such a popular neighborhood.

"Behind its gates lies a property defined by serenity and intention," the description read. "The grounds themselves feel almost enchanted. Mature coral trees anchor lush gardens and vine-draped terraces that evoke a natural flow of light and energy throughout the day.

"Multiple patios, stone pathways, and hidden sitting areas create a park-like atmosphere that shifts effortlessly from meditative retreat to glamorous entertaining space. The entire property carries an unmistakable sense of balance—privacy without isolation, grandeur without pretense."

During his time living at the home, Evans has created multiple outdoor spaces from where the views can be enjoyed, including a secluded paved patio with deck chairs that overlook the city below. Elsewhere on the grounds, there is a stunning swimming pool and spa, as well as a separate seating area with its own water feature.

Inside, the residence is equally impressive, blending luxury finishes with warm architectural details.

"Interiors by Stewart-Gulrajani merge architecture and artistry with exacting precision. Vaulted open-beam ceilings, vast picture windows, and refined finishes infuse each room with air, light, and composure," the description added.

Upon entering the home, guests are greeted by an expansive living area complete with a large TV, a fireplace, plush white lounge chairs, and a piano.

"The main living spaces revolve around a dramatic fireplace and connect fluidly to a generous dining area with a sleek wet bar—every detail engineered for both aesthetic impact and effortless use," the description continued.

"Expertly designed retaining walls expand the usable hillside pad, showcasing an understanding of form and function that mirrors the property's disciplined calm."

The chef's kitchen boasts a large overhead hood, a marble island, custom wood cabinetry, skylights, and top-of-the-line appliances, including "a 60-inch Wolf range with 10-foot custom hood, Sub-Zero refrigeration, dual Thermador dishwashers, a sizable wine fridge, and a built-in Miele coffee maker."

Beyond the main residence, the property also includes a detached guest dwelling complete with its own bedroom, kitchen, office, and a private gym that Evans reportedly used while preparing for his decade-long run as Captain America.

The primary suite opens onto a private patio overlooking the surrounding landscape, while the spa-inspired bathroom features a double vanity, soaking tub, and an oversized glass shower.

Evans purchased the property two years after making his debut as Captain America and is understood to have utilized the gym while preparing for many of his appearances as the beloved Marvel superhero.

During his tenure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Evans appeared in 11 films before passing the iconic shield to successor Anthony Mackie.

In 2023, Evans explained his decision to step away from the franchise, saying he would "never say never" about returning but wanted to devote less of his life to acting.

"I'll never say never, just because it was such a wonderful experience," he told GQ. "But I'm also very precious with it. It's something that I am very proud of. And like I said, sometimes I can't believe it even happened.

"And I wouldn't want the black eye if it felt like a cash grab or if it didn't live up to expectations or if it just felt like it wasn't connected to that original thing. So, no time soon. And ultimately I really hope to just maybe act a little bit less in my life."
