Heather Rae El Moussa Says Husband Tarek and Their Son Are Her ‘Greatest Treasures’—Days After Burglary at Family’s California Home
Heather El Moussa has described her husband, Tarek, and their son, Tristan, as her "greatest treasures," mere days after the family's home was broken into—and several pieces of the reality star's jewelry were stolen.
The 38-year-old "Selling Sunset" star opened up about how "violated" she and her husband felt in the wake of the burglary, which took place at their Newport Beach, CA, home while they were on vacation in Mexico, stating at the time that she would be taking a break from social media
However, after a brief online pause, Heather has now returned to Instagram to share some brighter updates, along with a series of images of herself, her husband, and their 3-year-old son, describing how they have been busy focusing on making memories with their "favorite people."
"Building a lifetime of ‘remember when’ with our favorite people," she captioned the photos, which appear to have been taken on the trip—before pointing out that these experiences with her family are so much more valuable than physical possessions.
She added, "My entire heart in a series of photos. Time moves so fast, but nothing beats the feeling of seeing our big family altogether. These memories are my greatest treasure."

In the photo carousel, Heather included several images of herself with her husband and son, as well as snaps of the trio spending time with their wider family and friends.
Tarek's daughter, Taylor, and son, Brayden, whom he shares with his ex-wife, Christina Haack, were also seen in the images, having joined their father on the trip.
The post came jut a few days after Heather and Tarek issued their first official statement in response to the burglary, writing on Instagram how "unsettling" they had found knowing that their "sanctuary" was "violated" by criminals.
"Our home has always been our sanctuary, the place where Tarek and I raise and protect our babies, love our family, and find peace. Having that space violated has been deeply unsettling, but we are profoundly grateful that our family is safe," the statement read.
Echoing the sentiments shared in the caption of her photo carousel, Heather went on to note the importance of the "memories" that were stolen from them during the burglary, writing: "While material things can be replaced, our hearts are broken over the irreplaceable family heirlooms and special memories that were taken from us.
"We are taking every precaution to protect our home moving forward, and we are grateful to law enforcement for their swift response and diligent work. Thank you to everyone who has reached out with love and support. Your kindness means more than we can say as we work to restore peace to our home."
Hours before news of the burglary was made public, Heather had hinted that the family had been through a traumatic incident, writing on Instagram Stories that they had been targeted by "cruel" people.
"Disgusted by some of the cruel heartless people in this world. Tarek and I feel violated and to be honest really sad," she wrote, before adding that she would be stepping back from social media for "a few days" while they came to terms with what happened.
However, she reassured her followers that she, Tarek, Tristan, and her husband's two kids with ex-wife Haack are all safe.
"Taking a break for a few days and will [be] back to explain soon. We are safe and the kids are safe," she concluded.
Not long after that message was shared, police in Newport Beach confirmed to People magazine that "unknown suspects" had broken into the couple's home while they were on a trip to Cabo San Lucas in Mexico, stating that the criminals "shattered a rear sliding glass door" to gain access to the dwelling at some point between 7:30 a.m. on June 6 and 6 p.m. on June 8.

"Inside the residence, the suspects ransacked the primary bedroom closet before fleeing through the backyard, along the side of the house and out the front yard," a spokesperson added, before confirming that several pieces of jewelry were taken from the property.
It is unclear whether anything else was stolen—and police have not yet revealed any details about the suspects in question.
The statement also did not reveal which of the couple's homes was targeted in the incident; Tarek and Heather currently own two dwellings in Newport Beach, one of which is currently on the rental market with a monthly asking price of $30,000.
Before offering that home up for rent, the couple closed on another dwelling in the area, which they purchased for $5.2 million in June 2025 and are currently using as their primary residence. Given that the "ransacked" home contained their belongings, it is thought that this was the property that was broken into.
Tarek and Heather proudly unveiled their new residence on Instagram in June, when they hailed their home investment as the start of a "new chapter," adding that they were "so excited" to bring fans along as they overhaul the already opulent abode.
They showcased their empty four-bedroom, four-bathroom home and revealed they were looking forward to "El Moussa design flair" after moving in.
The stunning abode features an all wooden door with lush landscaping in the front yard. The large door features small windows on both sides.
The modern home boasts an open floor plan and a chef's kitchen with state-of-the-art appliances and wood cabinetry that perfectly matches the chic flooring.
In addition to a sophisticated wooden aesthetic, the interior of the property also features elegant swipes of black molding—while its four bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms mean there is ample room for the duo to expand their family.

The property is located just a four-minute drive from the home of Tarek's ex-wife, Christina, with whom he shares two children, daughter Taylor, 15, and son Brayden, 10, which likely means he will be able to spend more time with the kids than ever before.
When they first showcased their new home, they said, "We have some news …. We’re moving!!! We are so excited for this new chapter and new adventure for our family. We can’t wait to make this house a home and add our El Moussa design flair and show you guys some of the process."
While speaking to Realtor.com® about their new purchase, Tarek revealed, "We got a new house because our other home was a beach house. It was a three-level beach house, rooftop, deck, and ocean view. It's in a vacation area, which is hard to get to because there is a ton of traffic.
"There wasn't a yard or pool, so honestly, it was for the kids. We wanted some more space, and we wanted to be by the park because the kids are No. 1, and we want to make sure they're happy.
"So we've been looking for a house, you know, for a while, we've been living down by the beach. We love living by the beach. We just didn't have a yard, a pool, all the things for the kids."
He explained how the couple spotted the property, and the lucky financial deal they secured.
"One day I was randomly driving by Heather and Tristan's favorite park, and I saw a for sale sign. I said, 'Oh, that house looks cute.' We looked it up, and I was like, 'Oh, wow!' It's actually a pretty nice house, and we thought it was a good buy.
"At the time, we felt the price was a little bit too high, so we followed it and then they reduced it a couple of weeks before Christmas, and then us, knowing that during the holidays things are slow, 10 days before Christmas, we wrote a low offer, and we ended up getting accepted.
"So we ended up buying the house well under asking, and the cool thing was they actually had a backup offer, all cash, $300,000 higher that came in a few days after we bought it, and that's why the time of the year that you go to buy real estate can be very important," he added.
He also revealed that his favorite area of the home is the living room because of how open it is, adding that it is the perfect spot for their entire family to spend time together.
However, he acknowledged, "Although we just bought a new home, it's not our forever home. We will probably be in this house for one or two years. This is going to be the in-between house before we buy the house, and then we're done."
The news of the scary incident comes mere weeks after it was revealed that Heather would be returning to "Selling Sunset."
