Luxury real estate powerhouse Shelton Wilder is inviting fans inside the stunning California home she transformed from a dated midcentury fixer-upper into a breathtaking modern retreat.

Known for representing A-list clients and negotiating high-profile deals, Wilder, who is originally from North Carolina, has become one of Los Angeles' most recognizable real estate agents.

Beyond closing multimillion-dollar transactions, she's made appearances on major reality TV shows, including “Shark Tank” and “Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles,” while building a loyal following on social media with her signature blend of luxury living, design inspiration, and real estate expertise.

But even with all of those additional projects, Wilder still found time to create her own idyllic sanctuary in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles, where she purchased a midcentury modern fixer-upper with a rich heritage—but a desperate need for some TLC.

Now, in the latest installment of Celebrity Sanctuary, the real estate expert lifts the lid on how she turned the "diamond in the rough" into her perfect family home, overseeing every step of the design process.

Here, Wilder opens up about the story behind her beautifully reimagined residence, the renovation that brought her vision to life, and the standout features she couldn't live without.

She also shared why privacy has become one of luxury real estate's biggest selling points—and whether another dream home transformation could be in her future.

I’ve always loved sales and working with people. I came from a background in fashion and entrepreneurship, and I always joked that I was either going to sell yachts, planes, or houses—and I landed on houses.

Real estate felt like the perfect mix of negotiation, design, and relationships.

We bought our home in 2018. It was a midcentury fixer with a lot of square footage in our dream neighborhood. It was a diamond in the rough, and [we] turned it into something incredibly special for our family.

It’s a midcentury modern treehouse with four bedrooms, six bathrooms, and approximately 4,600 square feet.

I was involved in every single decision. I was fully involved—basically the designer, honestly.

I love the oversized primary bedroom, the tree-filled views, the flexible lower-level space, the podcast room, and having two kitchens for entertaining and family life.

It’s not my forever home—although I’ll probably keep it forever. I could definitely see myself taking on another project one day because I love the process of transforming homes.

Despite my career, it’s not hard for me to want to buy every home I show. I’m actually more obsessed with people than homes. I love seeing how different people live and what makes a house meaningful to them.

But it has made me a perfectionist. Seeing what works—and what doesn’t—in so many homes definitely trained my eye when designing our own space.

One thing I really love is that we chose special vintage and one-of-a-kind pieces throughout the home, so it feels layered and unique rather than overly designed or “big-box store.”

I’m especially obsessed with our 12-inch rift white oak floors from Vermont, our La Cornue stove, and the kitchen cabinetry—we worked with the most incredible cabinetmaker who truly brought the vision to life.

The kitchen is definitely the heart of the home.
