The winner of a $1.76 billion Powerball jackpot is seeing his former California home up for sale just three months after he gifted the property to a not-for-profit.

Theodorus Struyck bought his Frazier Park home back in 2010. He owned the property until December 2025, when he gifted it to the Triumph Foundation, according to public records. The Triumph Foundation is a California not-for-profit providing resources and support with spinal cord injuries. Realtor.com® reached out for comment.

Struyck purchased the home for $90,000. Nearly 15 years later, the home is listed for $250,000. The location is about 500 yards from the Kern County convenience store, where he bought the winning Powerball ticket in October 2023.

Struyck won the $1.765 billion Powerball jackpot, the third highest-ever prize and also ended the longest stretch without a winner.

The ticket was bought at Midway Market, a family-owned business for 30 years. The store received a $1,000,000 bonus check for selling the ticket.

The winning ticket came after 35 missed drawings, according to California Lottery officials.

“Announcing big wins like this gives all of our players the chance to hope and dream that they could be next,” California Lottery Director Harjinder K. Shergill Chima said shortly after announcing there had been a winner.

Humble home

Struyck called his Frazier Park home for nearly 15 years. The listing says the two-bedroom, two bath home was built in 1986. It's 1,176 square feet with a one car attached garage.

It's described as a "mountain escape meets commuter convenience" that is move-in ready. Aside from the garage, there's parking for five or six cars.

The home has central air and a fireplace, but the outside deck has a view of Cuddy Creek.

Frazier Park is located within Cuddy Canyon—inside the Los Padres National Forest. It's described as a mountain retreat along the I-5 corridor, north of Los Angeles.

California winners

Struyck isn't the only Powerball winner who stands out in the state. Edwin Castro bought his winning $2 billion Powerball ticket at a gas station in Altadena, CA, in 2022. Since that time, he became one of the largest investors buying up burned lots in Altadena, which was devastated by the January 2025 wildfires.

Castro spent time in Altadena as a child. The community lost about 9,000 structures. The Wall Street Journal reported that Castro purchased at least 15 lots, spending $10 million.
