HGTV Star Jenny Marrs Opens Up About Family’s ‘Really, Really Hard’ Year—as She Shares ‘Prayers’ for ‘Deep Soul Rest’ in 2026

HGTV star Jenny Marrs has opened up about the heartbreaking challenges that her family had to endure in 2025—while sharing her "prayers" for a happier, healthier year for all of her loved ones.

Just before the clock struck 11:59 p.m. on New Year's Eve, the 46-year-old "Fixer to Fabulous" star took to Instagram to reveal her hopes for 2026, admitting that she was busy "recording prayers" for the new year, a ritual that she does every year, instead of setting specific resolutions.

“As I’ve shared before, rather than New Year’s resolutions, which are based on my own willpower and grit, I record specific prayers for the coming year," the mother of five wrote.

"I’ve found that as I pray the prayers throughout the year, they redirect my heart, attitude, and actions to the One who authors my story in ways I could never begin to hope or imagine on my own. I just have a slightly different view this year!"

Marrs then went on to point to the many hardships that she and her family faced during 2025, describing it as a "really, really hard year," while paying tribute to the many loved ones that they lost.

“2025 was a really, really hard year for our family, yet, as I read through my prayers from 365 days ago, I see God’s hand all over my life and the lives of those I love," she continued.

"I’m ending this year a bit melancholy, sad to step into a new one without four dearly, dearly loved ones and our [dog] Dolly-girl, but I’m also grateful."

Although she did not mention the loved ones by name, the family lost several members during 2025, including husband Dave's mother, Donna; Marrs' grandmother; and their close friends, Jill and Bob.

The family also said goodbye to their beloved dog, Dolly.

However, Marrs admitted in her post that she is seeking comfort in her faith, noting that she is “grateful for the nearness of God through it all and for the gentle way he continues to restore [her] soul despite the presence of sorrow.”

Lastly, she revealed that she is hopeful for what 2026 has to offer.

“May 2026 be a year of joy-filled moments, new adventures, peaceful days, and deep, soul rest,” she said.

Although the last year was filled with difficult moments for Marrs and her family, they did get the chance to mark some important milestones, sharing many a happy memory inside their Bentonville, AR, farmhouse, which they share with their five kids— twin sons Nathan and Ben, adopted daughter Sylvie, daughter Charlotte, and son Luke—as well as their dog, Banana, cat Lloyd, and their many beloved farm animals.

In a November interview with Realtor.com®, the couple explained how they have continued to renovate the property to fit their growing family, while also ensuring that they have preserved the historic details that make the home so special.

The husband-and-wife team has remodeled the living quarters on several occasions: Once before moving in to the residence in 2014 and twice since that time to evolve the space alongside their family.

“More than anything, we have adjusted our house as we've needed to for the stages of our kids' lives and our lives, and it's always a work in progress,” Marrs revealed.

“It’s an old home and it's warm and it's cozy and it's real. Life is lived there; It's not a museum."

Marrs revealed that the renovations were carried out largely after the family realized that they had stumbled across their forever home, having initially purchased it as more of a project, rather than a permanent dwelling.

"When we first moved to the house, we actually weren't planning on moving into it. We renovated it with, like, materials that we had left over and we didn't know what we were going to do with it," she said.

"We just knew we didn't want the house to be torn down, but it wasn't meant for our family necessarily.

"We also only had two kids at the time. So we grew and grew and then when I was pregnant with Luke, we're like, 'We have to redo this again.'"

In addition to managing a full household and working farm, the Marrses run their eponymous renovation business and two retail stores while filming their Emmy-nominated series.

They’ve also starred in several spinoffs of the show, such as “Fixer to Fabulous: Welcome Inn” and “Fixer to Fabulous: Italiano,” along with other network reality TV productions, including “Rock the Block” and “Home Town Takeover.”
