“The town of Middleburgh, which is super cute and feels like a movie set, is only 10 minutes down the road,” Armstrong-Petock says. “There are also several delicious roadside eateries nearby.”

And for those seeking backcountry adventure, there are plentiful hiking trails, water features, and caves in the area’s five state forests.

Plus, the sweet retreat is less than 2.5 hours from Manhattan and is a great winter escape. The now well-insulated abode is fewer than 30 minutes from Windham Mountain ski resort.
